Riot Games has unveiled a new game mode coming toLeague of Legendscalled “Swarm.” This PvE event will run from July 17 to August 19. Riot showed off Swarm in the new summer trailer forLeague of Legends.
Every summer,League of Legendsplayers look forward to what Riot Games will do for its summer event. Last summer,Riot Games introduced Arena intoLeague of Legends. This game mode saw players compete in 2v2v2v2 elimination games, similar to a mix ofLeague of LegendsandTeamfight Tactics. In addition to new game modes,League of Legends' summer event also brings with it new skins for players to use. In addition to Swarm, fourteen skins will be added to the game.
Swarm, or Operation: Anima Squad, is a new PvE game mode that will launch on July 17 and run until August 19. This event follows the currentHall of Legends event running inLeague of Legends.Swarm sees players team up to survive a showdown in Final City while taking on waves of Primordials. Up to four players can participate in a match of Swarm, with each player controlling a member of the Anima Squad. Players will unlock upgrades and abilities by playing, making their characters stronger with each match. Even when faced with a loss, their character will still gain power, making the next round go smoother.
The new Swarm mode sees the return of the Anima Squad, which made its debut in 2022 as skins. Anima Squad depictsLeague of Legendschampions as futuristic versions of themselves defending humanity. Set on a dying Earth in the near-future, the Anima Squad defends the planet from the high-tech alien Primordials. Now, the Anima Squad gets its time in the spotlight with its own bullet hell game mode.Swarm plays similarly to the bullet hellVampire Survivors, having players battle wave after wave of enemies.
Skins are always being added toLeague of Legends, both new and returning favorites, and fourteen of them are being added for the summer event. Some of these skins are new while others are seeing their return toLeague of Legends. These skins see some champions joining the Anima Squad while other champions join the Primordials.
