It’s been a long and bumpy road for Kelly Marie Tran’sStar Warscareer. Originally introduced inThe Last Jedi, the character of Rose Tico was rather divisive amongst Star Wars fans, which led to a sustained and vitriolic backlash against the actress herself. This led to the actress leaving social media for some time, as well as a counter backlash from those appreciated her role, followed by more controversy when the character was effectively sidelined inThe Rise of Skywalker. Now Kelly Marie Tran is taking another diveinto a galaxy far, far away, but this time in the form ofThe Lego Star Wars Holiday Specialfor Disney+.

If that name sounds familiar, it’s probably because it’s a knowing reference tothe infamousStar Wars Holiday Special: a live-action Star Wars Christmas film so bad that even George Lucas wanted to forget it ever happened. It also seems to plot similarities, with Rey, Finn, Poe, Chewie, Rose and the droids gathering to celebrate Life Day, which serves as the Star Wars universe’s stand-in for Christmas. Kelly Marie Tran, Billy Dee Williams, and Anthony Daniels are among the most recent actors to be confirmed as reprising their roles from the films.

Interestingly, however,it seems the holiday special isn’t just a side story, but will directly follow the events ofThe Rise of Skywalker. It will be, according to descriptions, a 45 minute special following Rey and BB-8 as she goes on a journey to strengthen her connection to the force. Along the way she is set to encounter characters from all the main films in the series, including Luke, Darth Vader, Obi-Wan, and Yoda.Star Wars: The Clone Warsvoice actors Matt Lanter and James Arnold Taylor, who played Anakin and Obi-Wan respectively, are also confirmed to return, as well as few others.

At the time of writing, it is unknown whether any other high profile actors like Mark Hamill or Daisy Ridley are set to return. It’s a bold move to intentionally bait comparisons to one of the most disastrous Star Wars products ever released, but hopefully the callback will remain a loving tribute, rather than a harbinger of the special’s quality.

The Lego Star Wars Holiday Specialwill debut on Disney+ this November 17.
