An artist recreated Jurnee Smollett’sBlack Canaryby giving her a different look that’s based on her iconic costume from the comic books. Smollett’sBlack Canaryhad herDC Extended Universelive-action debut in the filmBirds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn).
Smollett’s character in the movie was a different and more unique take on the iconicDCComics superhero. After losing her mother to the force, she decided to not use her power to help out theGotham City Police Department(rightfully so), yet she always had empathy and went out of her way to help those who couldn’t help themselves, which showed that she was always meant to be a hero.

Smollett’s Black Canary was so iconicthat she’ll be getting her own project on HBO Max. The two previously collaborated on HBO’sLovecraft Country, which was not renewed for a second, much to the disappointment of fans.
