What many are holding out for is any information on the whereabouts ofThe Elder Scrolls 6, but in the meantime, someone has jokingly moddedMorrowindto give their interpretation of the next entry in the Bethesda series. WhileSkyrimis the most successfulElder Scrollsgame, the third installment is considered a classic by many, representing the last true role-playing experience from the developer before the franchise shifted more towards the action-RPG genre.
Despite its age,Morrowindis still being modded, with a recent one using AI to implement full voice acting to the dated release. It has aged significantly over the past two decades, but that doesn’t undercut its importance. Not only was it a visual leap compared to 1996’sThe Elder Scrolls 2: Daggerfall, but it was also a triumph for consoles at the time of its release, as no other game of this magnitude could possibly hope to be compatible with the likes of the OG Xbox untilTES3arrived on the scene.

Now someone is offering a brief window into the future with aMorrowindmod that attempts its own take onThe Elder Scrolls 6. As spotted by PC Gamer, Nexus Mods user stupidcatgirl is going for something a little silly, as their modification is described as being the next installment in the series. They do specify that this meant not meant to be taken seriously, with a message saying that this is just another one of their “gag mods.” Of course, a quick look at some of the images shows that this is not meant to beTES6at all. It’s a mishmash of crazy visuals not intended to be sincere. There’s even a video that claims to be the opening minutes of the long-awaited RPG. However, as well as featuring an instrumental version of Phil Collins' “Another Day in Paradise,” it’s just some footage from this modded version ofMorrowind.
Again, it should be iterated that stupidcatgirl intends this as a joke and nothing more. However, it is understandable that some may go to great lengths to play the next game in Bethesda’s epic fantasy franchise. It’s beena while sinceThe Elder Scrolls 6was announced, with a teaser being shown off back in 2018. At this point, no one has any idea when the next game will come out, but hopefully some details will be forthcoming afterStarfieldreleases later on this year.
Morrowindalso turned 20 last year, and it’s good to see that it’s still getting some love from the community. The Elder Scrollsseries may have veered away from its roots, appealing to a broader audience of gamers, but there will always be those who will fondly go back to the previous entries to remind themselves of how it all began.
The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowindreleased in 2002 for PC and the original Xbox.
