Summary
Fans have been given another disappointing update from James Gunn about the DCU, this time regarding the costume that David Corenswet will don inSuperman: Legacy. Gunn has been very active on social media providing updates on the process of his upcoming DCU projects. Many of these updates have focused onSuperman: Legacyas it will be the first DCU movie and it will be written and directed by Gunn. These updates have included casting, debunking rumors, and possiblyteasing one of Superman’s most powerful allies.
With the ongoing writers’ and actors’ strike, there has been very little that Gunn can do for his upcoming projects. Fans were hoping that he could share some designs for the Man of Steel’s suit.

One fan asked Gunn under one of his recentInstagramposts, “Could you post the suit already” Gunn responded by saying that they are “not even slightly close to doing that” It sounds like fans will be in for a long wait till they get the first look at David Corenswet’s Superman suit. Gunn’s comment also seems to infer that there is a lot more to do before they can reveal the suit. They might not have even picked a logo for this version of Superman yet.
Another possible reason for them not releasing the suit yet is that they probably want to see David Corenswet in it first. Due to the ongoing actors’ strike, actors are unable to perform any work for the studios and that would include just putting on a costume. Even if they have a few different concepts for what they want the suit to look like, there are many different steps that would involve Corenswet before they can share what it looks like.
Additionally, this suit will set the tone for future suits in the DCU the same way thatHenry Cavill’s Superman suit inMan of Steelsets the tone for the rest of the DCEU suits. So James Gunn should take his time figuring out what he wants his long-term vision to look like before he settles on a suit forSuperman: Legacy.
Superman: Legacyis currently scheduled for release on May 26, 2025 and could possibly be delayed due to the ongoing strikes in Hollywood. However, a 2025 release date gives Gunn plenty of time to figure out what he wants the Superman suit to look like. Fans will just have to sit tight and wait a while to see the suit.
