While there have been fleeting moments where the story has picked up, a lot of the fans have complained about the structure of this arc and the fact that it did not radiate the same intensity that they expected. Of course,My Hero Academia’s Final War arc has been great for the fans to witness at some points, especially when the major characters of the story are receiving the vast majority of the focus, however, at others, the arc has been almost a drag, and makes fans wonder why to Final Arc is not landing.
The Major Fights In The Final War Arc
The Final War arc ofMy Hero Academiawas used to tie all the loose ends together. This meant that all the major conflicts in the story would finally conclude in this arc and that is what made it very special to the fans. Of course, there are quite a lot of major plot points that the fans were expecting to be resolved in this saga and a lot of them have actually been tackled already. For instance, fans got to seethe whole arc of the Todoroki Familybeing dealt with beautifully by Horikoshi. This plot point was absolutely amazing for the fans to witness and, at the same time, it delivered the perfect closure for the likes of Toya, Shoto, Endeavor, Rei, and all the other members of this family.
The other major fights, such as when Bakugo, along with other fighters, fought against Shigaraki, were certainly an exciting phase of the arc as well. Once again, all the major parts of the arc have been very fun for the fans to enjoy. All For One’s fight against Endeavor and Hawks was certainly exciting as well. The intensity of these fights was great and they managed to keep the fans on the edge of their seats. However, this quality has not been maintained throughout the Final War Saga, which is most certainly the main gripe of the fans with this ongoing arc.

The Minor Fights In The Final War Arc
When it comes to the minor fights and character moments inMy Hero Academia’sFinal War arc, the vast majority of them have not been anything special. The minor characters, such as Denki, Kirishima, Mina, Tsuyu, and Aoyama, among others, have received some of the spotlight, however, it clearly felt that something was lacking. These characters have not been developed enough in the original story as it progressed to the final arc. Giving them big moments in the final arc when there is nothing to back their development over the years was certainly not going to go down well with the fans.

That is not to say that all the minor fights in this arc were unlikable. Some of them, especiallythe ones focusing on Ochaco and Toga, were absolutely phenomenal for the fans to witness. In fact, this fight might be one of the very best in the arc and that certainly did elevate the side characters in the eyes of the fans. However, for the vast majority of this arc, fans expected better when it comes to the minor characters. Going forward, fans can only hope that the author successfully concludes the ongoing fights and ends the series on a high.
Is The Final War Arc Too Long?
The length of the Final War Arc ofMy Hero Academiais also another talking point among the fans. A lot of the fans argue that this arc has been too long and while it is true that the arc has been long, it certainly is not too long. The length of the arc doesn’t necessarily affect the quality of it in any way. It is the ability to keep the readers engaged that matters. The problem with the Final War arc ofMy Hero Academiais that it keeps the readers engaged at some points, while others simply feel like a drag.
For instance, the entire section of the arcthat focused on the heteromorphswas simply not good enough for the fans and it almost felt as if it was shoehorned into the story just because the author wanted to wrap up the storyline before the series ended. It did not help elevate the quality of the story in any way and, at the same time, even the way that this plot point was dealt with was not satisfactory for the fans.

Quite a lot of the arc focused on this very dull section of the war and another similar part of the arc, where Twice’s clones completely overwhelmed everyone on the battlefield, achieved the same effect. While the idea for Toga to use these powers was certainly genius, the execution of the fights between Twice’s clones and the Heroes was certainly a drag for the fans to witness. Similarly, most of the other character moments in the final arc that were used to fill up the holes left behind in the story were important but not executed well. While some of them worked to a level, others simply felt as if they were forced into the story for the sake of it.
Is My Hero Academia’s Final Arc Failing?
It wouldn’t be fair to say that the Final Arc ofMy Hero Academiahas been failing, or that it is a failure. The fact is, the vast majority of the big fights in this arc have been exceptional and those that are already over were wrapped up phenomenally by the author. One can clearly see the meticulous work it must have taken the author to execute those storylines perfectly and bring them to a perfect conclusion as well. However, the part of the arc where it almost feels like things fall apart are the ones that have not been previously developed in the story but are shoehorned into the final war arc just for the sake of it.
These include the many storylines, such as the ones discussed earlier, and also many character moments for the side cast ofMy Hero Academia, who were simply neglected for the vast majority of the story and then given big moments in the Final War Saga, expecting for the fans to show the same level of care. These character moments do not seem earned and do not redeem these characters for having been neglected.

My Hero Academia’s Final War Saga has some of the highest highs in the entire series. It tugs at the heartstrings of the fans with some incredible moments, such as the fight that Bakugo fought against Shigaraki, the Battle of brothers between Shoto and Toya, Endeavor’s last stand against All For One, and his confrontation with his son, Ochaco’s fight against Toya, All Might’s last stand against All For One, and Deku’s fight against Shigaraki. All of these were brilliantly handled, however, the arc also has some of the lowest lows that fans have witnessed in My Hero Academia. Overall, the arc has been decent for the fans so far, however, much of that rests on how Horikoshi deals with the eventual conclusion and the aftermath. For now, fans should be patient and see how the arc wraps up.
My Hero Academia is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and theManga Plusapp. The release date for the next chapter of My Hero Academia, My Hero Academia chapter 400, is set to be July 26, 2025.
