Intel has released another Arc GPU driver update that is meant to further optimizeStarfield. What’s interesting is that the Intel Arc A770 GPU does not meet the minimum requirements for the game, but Intel seems to want its Arc customers to have the bestStarfieldexperience. This was the second driver update to address issues with the game, but there still seem to be several outstanding issues that contribute to the frustration of Intel Arc GPU owners.
Starfieldlaunched on September 6. At the time, Intel Arc GPU owners were facing a lot of optimization issues. The drivers that Intel launched did not address the issues with the game, causing owners to become more vocal about their frustrations. The game has been developed in partnership with AMD and uses several new technologies that have been developed by AMD to provide the best experience on Team Red graphics cards.

Following the first driver update, Intel has now released another version – the 31.0.101.4676 Non-WHQL driver – that further optimizesStarfieldfor Arc GPUs.According to the changelog, the driver update fixes issues like incorrectly rendered glass surfaces and objects as well as missing eyebrows on characters, and it improves stability in different areas of the game. While this should bring some respite toStarfieldplayers, there are still a lot of issues that remain to be fixed.
This does show that Intel is striving to deliver the bestStarfieldexperience to its Arc GPU owners. Interestingly, as the developer, Bethesda states that the Intel Arc A770 GPU, which is the most powerful in Intel’s Arc series, is not good enough to run the game. A gamer who reached out to Bethesda for help withStarfieldrunning on his Arc A770 GPUgot a response from the customer support teamstating that the A770 does not meet the minimum requirements forStarfield, which is an AMD Radeon RX 5700 or the Nvidia GTX 1070 Ti.

While it does characteristically consume more power than most of its competitors in idle mode, it does offer excellent value for money as Intel’s push for the mid-range finds ground for a GPU that can go up against the RTX 4060TI and RX 7600 with ease while offering more memory than any competing product in its price range.
Intel Arc A770 Limited Edition
A part of Intel’s first dedicated graphics cards, the Arc A770 offers a great price-to-performance ratio but still needs to deliver on better drivers despite already offering better RT performance than entry-level AMD GPUs and going neck and neck with Nvidia’s RTX 3060 GPU in most benchmarks.
This statement from the executive is a bit unsettling considering Intel launched the Arc series GPUs, especially the A770, to compete with Nvidia RTX 3060 and 3060 Ti. So, for the game to support a seven-year-old GPU such as the 1070 Ti and not the Arc A770 is quite surprising, to say the least.

The customer support executive further stated that because of this reason, the support they can provide is limited as some of the steps may potentially damage the user’s PC. This suggests Bethesda is not planning to do anything to better supportStarfieldon Intel Arc GPUs and the chipmaker will have to work on all the optimizations. At this point, it is unclear if there will be a third driver update that fixes even more issues with the game.
