Ancient Ruins of Rauh is one of the five major regions inElden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree. To reach the ending of the DLC, visiting the Ancient Ruins of Rauh is a must, as you will have to defeat a non-optional boss here to reach Enir-Ilim, a vast legacy dungeon up in the sky.

Like all other regions in theElden RingDLC, Rauh Ruins also features verticality in its map design, with the Ancient Ruins of Rauh floating high up in the sky while the base part of the ruins is located on the ground. The base of Rauh Ruins can be reached by simply riding Torrent, but accessing the Ancient Ruins of Rauh requires much more effort. In this guide, you will find two ways to reach the Ancient Ruins of Rauh. The first method is a shortcut involving a portal, while the second requires you to go through the Shadow Keep legacy dungeon.

Teleporter to Ancient Ruins of Rauh

After you have defeatedRellana, Twin Moon Knight, in Castle Ensis, you can unlock the Highroad Cross site of grace found north of Castle Ensis. To the west of Castle Ensis, you will find a Troll Knight spirit roaming around a small river. Go up the small hill next to the river to find an inactive portal. To activate this portal, you will need to use an Imbued Sword Key.

There arethree Imbued Sword Keysavailable in the base game and one in theShadow of the Erdtree DLC. If you have already used all Imbued Sword Keys from the base game, you can find one Imbued Sword Key in Castle Ensis. It is located inside a chest just before the Castle-Lord’s Chamber site of grace.

Activate the teleporter and use it to reach the Ancient Ruins of Rauh instantly. Go a little north to find Rauh Ancient Ruins, East site of grace to rest at.

Path to Ancient Ruins of Rauh from Shadow Keep

Shadow Keep is one of the major legacy dungeons inElden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtreeand is key to finishing the story of the DLC. In addition to fighting Messmer the Impaler here, Shadow Keep acts as a pathway to other major areas like Finger Ruins of Dheo, Abyssal Wood, and the Ancient Ruins of Rauh, as well as bosses like Commander Gaius and Scadutree Avatar.

To get to the Ancient Ruins of Rauh from Shadow Keep, you will first have to reach the Storehouse, First Floor site of grace. Head west from the site of grace to find a room with a lift leading to a section filled withugly blobs of limbshiding inside jars. These enemies can be quite tanky if you haven’t leveled up theScadutree Blessingenough. At the end, you will reach the West Rampart site of grace.

From there, take the door ahead and follow the bridge to the end to find the entrance to the Ancient Ruins of Rauh. Be careful of Salza, Fire Knight Sage, at the end of the bridge. He is a powerful enemy who rains down flames of Messmer once you get close to him. You can use the arches on the bridge to protect yourself from the rain of fire.

You cannot find theRauh Ruins map fragmentin the Ancient Ruins of Rauh. For the map fragment, you will have to explore the Rauh Ruins base area.
