The third season ofCall of Duty: Warzone 2aims to bring significant content additions. Along with a plethora of new operators, weapons, and sweeping changes to its core battle royale and multiplayer modes,Call of Duty: Warzone 2is also implementing serious changes to its DMZ mode—its extraction-style royale mode.
The theme ofCall of Duty’s latest seasonal changesis to bolster preexisting modes while keeping their core experience relatively unchanged. For DMZ, this manifests as a series of changes that will offer players greater flexibility in the way they approach each match, with the majority of changes being geared toward the way players obtain and upgrade their guns.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2’s Workbench and Barter Systems
The first major change coming to DMZ is the all-new Workbench system. This will allow players to upgrade their Contraband weapons—any weapon found during a DMZ match—to better suit their style. This change should feel as though players are getting one step closer to having their loadout within a DMZ match. At the least, the Workbench system will act as an alternative place for players to spend their hard-earned cash and will undoubtedly ratchet upthe intensity of DMZ exfilsas players attempt to extract with tailor-made guns.
Another new addition comes in the form of the Barter system in DMZ. At each Buy Station, players will now be able to exchange their Contraband weapons. It seems that the stock available in the Barter system will be relatively unpredictable and will not be a player-to-player trading system, but the Barter system seems to also offer a chance for players to get closer to a loadout they’re comfortable with.

Between the Barter and Workbench systems, players could end up spending an inordinate amount of time atBuy Stations inWarzone 2. Since Workbenches will be located near Buy Stations, the ability to both trade in Contraband weapons and customize them will be at players' fingertips every time they visit a Buy Station.
New Factions, New Bosses, and More Changes in the DMZ
The players asked, and Infinity Ward listened. In line with fans' calls formore DMZ missions inWarzone 2, the latest update to DMZ mode will usher in an entirely new faction, REDACTED, and will bring in a handful of associated missions. As expected, details are relatively sparse around the new REDACTED faction, but fans can expect an entirely new Secure Supplies contract in DMZ. This contract will send players to a specific location where they will have to fend off enemies to gain a cache of loot.
Along with the REDACTED faction, DMZ will see the introduction of new bosses. This will likely manifest similarly to other DMZ bosses, which featured more durable, difficult enemies that drop exclusive blueprints. While it’s yet to be confirmed, the addition of new bosses likely means new operator andweapon skins like the Biohazard skin. A subtle hint in the related blog post suggests that the new boss will appear underground in Al-Mazrah, meaning that players might encounter them in places like the Sattiq Cave Complex.
Perhaps the biggest change to DMZ comes in the form of additional operator slots. While players previously had only one operator to enter and extract from the DMZ mode, they will now start with a total of three slots. Not only will this act as a sort ofstorage system for DMZ mode, but it will also allow players to pick and choose between their operator slots depending on which missions and contracts they plan to pursue in-game, giving them a greater degree of flexibility on which items they want to risk.
