There’s a surprising market in the world of internet videos for low-tech and high-yuk recreations of scenes from movies, shows, games, etc. that have already achieved meme status on their own. From TikTok videos of funnyStar Warsscenes to TikTok videos of funnyHarry Potterscenes (look, the almighty algorithm has spoken), fans enjoy plenty of entertainment value from both filming these scenes and watching them. It’s kind of like hanging out with that high-energy friend who seems to have issues with sitting down, and aLord of the Ringsfan has gotten in on the action.

It may come as little surprise to see a fanmade video faithfully pulling off a certain infamous scene fromThe Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ringwithout that pesky multimillion-dollar budget. Those who enjoy the franchise are likely intimately familiar with a particularlyshocking scene involving Bilbo Bagginsand his rather less-than-professional reaction to the Ring of Power. Well, this fan certainly remembers, and he decided to immortalize it in his own special way.

Reddit user Tyler Warwick, who goes by the usernameWeird-world23, has a bit of a knack for reproducing scenes from his favorite movies featuring only himself. Gaining plenty of traction on TikTok, he’stackled franchises likeHarry PotterandStar Warsalong with the aforementionedLord of the Ringsofferings. But his recent Bilbo-related offering is something particularly special.

Playing not only Frodo and Bilbo in the scene, Warwick also hilariously provides the soundtrack with his own background humming. It all comes together wonderfully to not only emphasize the absurd humor behind everything but to also kind of help the viewer realize that he’s actually a pretty dang good actor. As anative to New Zealandhimself, the Kiwi actor currently living in the U.S. is certainly a prime candidate to pull off such a goofy yet heartfeltLord of the Ringstribute.

Like the original scene inThe Fellowship of the Ring, Warwick achieves the jump scare shot of Bilbo using some visual effects to contort his face into something unnervingly grotesque. However, he takes things in a bit of a different direction than the painstakingly hand sculpted face model used in the film. In this case, he relies more on his own expressive face in the moment with a little digital touch-up after the fact. It’s unclear whether or not the fact that he looksremarkably like Mr. Beanat the moment was intentional, but it still got the job done.

It’s just one more example of the creative power fans can muster without the giant money printing machines given out at every baby shower in Hollywood. Warwick makes masterful use of the tools at his disposal, and as a result, he’s amassed an impressive TikTok following and a remarkable ear for comedy. Here’s hoping he keeps it up. MaybeMonty Pythongags will come back in season sometime soon.
