One of the most requested video game sequels of the past decade is a follow-up to EA Black Box’s classic extreme sports video gameSkate 3. While the extreme sports genre has fallen out of popularity sinceSkate 3’s release, many fans are still holding out hope that EA will announce aSkate 4, causing them to take to social media on multiple occasions to request a sequel. Today, following the announcement ofTony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2from Activision, Skate fans have once again taken to Twitter to let EA know that they want their beloved skateboarding franchise to return too.

Speaking on the podcast, Dill claimed that he had been contacted by EA in 2019 to appear in the port, yet when Dill asked if the publisher would like himto appear in any other titles(namely a possibleSkate 4), the company declined. While manySkatefans are surely excited for titles such asTony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2and even upcoming indie titles such asSkate XLandSession,Skate 3’s 10 year anniversary yesterday hasmany fans wishing for the franchise’s returnnow more so than ever, especially with EA’s upcoming EA Play event slated for June 11th, where the company plans to reveal upcoming titles for both current and next generation consoles, along with remasters such as the much rumoredMass Effecttrilogy remaster.
ShouldTony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2succeed, many are hoping that EA will notice Activision’s renewed interest in the extreme sports genre and finally start development on a new entry in theSkateseries. Despite closing the series' developers EA Black Box (formerly Black Box Games) in 2013 and shuttingSkate 3’s online servers down in 2016, many quickly noticed that the publisher had re-activated the game’s serversfollowing its EA Play eventin 2018, which sparked much of the current conversation regarding the future of the skateboarding series.
