TheHalo Infinitecampaign was released just over a week ago, giving fans a chance to once again play as Master Chief. This time set on Zeta Halo, the game introduced players to asemi-open world that encouraged more explorationthan ever before in aHalotitle. While many fans seemed to love the campaign, one important feature was missing at launch.
Ever since the inception of the series withHalo: Combat Evolvedon the original Xbox, players have had the option to take on the Covenant with a friend. Unfortunately, 343 Industries revealed earlier this year that theHalo Infinitecampaign would not be continuing this trend, as it lacked local and online co-op at launch. The omission of this feature was a disappointment for many players. Luckily for those wanting to play with a second player, a new glitch has been discovered that looks to give fans that chance.

In a tweet on December 16, a player known as nobleactual revealed that they had uncovered a way to unlock co-op for thecampaign inHalo Infinite. According to the player, the game contained a glitch that let them play split-screen with a friend. For those interested in giving split-screen co-op a go through the glitch, nobleactual listed the steps necessary.
First,Halo Infinitemust be set to offline. As a result, this eliminates the possibility of playing co-op with a friend via the internet. Next, players need to connect a second controller and sign in to an Xbox account. Following this, the campaign must be started with the first controller. Then, the player needs to press start followed by backing out of the menu. The final step is to hit start on the second controller, which adds a second player to the fireteam. If these steps are followed in that order, split-screen co-op should be enabled, and a second Master Chief should appear in the game.
While this was exciting news, the gamer that found the glitch pointed out that the implementation of the feature was far from perfect. There was no HUD for the second player, and FOBs and story missions failed to function correctly. In addition, the glitch couldn’t be performed on PC. Despite these drawbacks, nobleactual said that the glitched co-op experience was still fun to check out for those on Xbox consoles.
Fortunately, a better solution to co-op play is coming in the future. 343 Industries revealed a few months ago that it planned to bring officialco-op support to theHalo Infinitecampaignin 2022. This support looks to include online and split-screen multiplayer, allowing players to choose the best option for themselves. However, no exact date for the release of this feature has been given yet.
