Despite the praises ofHalo Infinite’s multiplayer gameplay, fans and critics alike have spoken out about the way it is structured, particularly in game mode variety. This feedback hasn’t fallen on deaf ears, with 343 Industries announcing that updates are coming toHalo Infinite’s multiplayer selection, including the return of some fan-favorite modes.
Many fans have been puzzled byHalo Infinite’s multiplayer problems, considering other games in the franchise have avoided these issues. Currently, players can select between three multiplayer playlists inHalo Infinite: Quick Play, Big Team Battle, and Ranked Arena. These playlists aren’t game modes but more so indications of the type of games players will be participating in, with Quick Play offering 4v4 modes, Big Team Battle having 12v12 modes, and Ranked Arena also being 4v4, but with competitive settings. That said,Halo Infiniteplayers simply want to choose what game typethey are looking to play, especially when many Weekly Challenges necessitate individual game modes.

Halo Infinite’s playlists will be receiving some major updates before the end of the year, 343 Industries has announced. The news comes from a couple of tweets by theHaloCommunity Manager, John Junyszek, writing that the studio is currently working on adding Tactical Slayer (SWAT) and Free-For-All playlists intoHalo Infinite, as well as bring back Fiesta Mode. 343 Industries previously statedFiesta mode would only return in the next Tenrai eventin January. As for when the updates will be available, Junyszek states, “They won’t land by Dec 8, but the team is pushing to get them in before the end of year,” followed by a fist-bump emoji.
Junyszek elaborates in a following post that the purpose ofHalo Infinite’s eventsis to test game modes before fully adding them as playlists. The current plan at 343 Industries is to monitor how these three playlists do health-wise and adjust as necessary. Fans will have to wait until after the holidays to start selecting individual Quick Play and Big Team Battle modes, though. In a final tweet, Junyszek writes, “A Social Slayer playlist (with multiple variations) is also in the works (we see this request the most), but we won’t be able to get that one ready until after the holidays.”
For those hoping to see changes coming toHalo Infinite, this is where 343 Industries is at in addressing them.Halo Infinitewill have dedicated playlists for SWATand Fiesta, as well as Slayer and its multiple variants both large and small, though it is just going to take a little more time. Sure, there is an argument to be made for why these offerings weren’t available in the first place, which is fair, as the status-quo is a bit anti-player, but 343 Industries' continued transperancy and desire to improveHalo Infinitecannot be ignored.
TheHalo InfiniteMultiplayer Beta is available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, with the full release coming on December 8.
