The game can be from any era, any genre, and any series, and it’s up to players torecognize the screenshotsand correctly guess the game they’re looking at, including the specific sequel if the game is from a franchise. This guide will explain how the game works and give hints to players that may need them.
How To Play Guess the Game
Created and maintained by indie game developer Sam Stiles,Guess the Gameacts as a video-game-centered clone ofWordle.Instead of guessing letters and getting immediate feedback if they’re on the right track,Guess the Gamehas players presented withone screenshotat a time, slowly revealing more information after each incorrect guess. Video game veterans and novices alike have found great fun in testing their knowledge of video games and sharing their results with friends. The rules are as follows.

First, head to the ‘GuessThe.Game’ website or find a link directly to it via Sam Stiles' Twitter bio. Then, type the first guess into the box - it’s also possible to ‘skip’ to the next image, but this counts as a guess.
Players need to type the name of the game they believe is being shown in the screenshots, then click or tap the full name of the game if it appears in the list that appears while they type. If players believe they know the game, but it isn’t appearing in the list, they should check their spelling or accept that it’s not the game they were thinking of and try again.
Players are also presented with a new screenshot that reveals a little more of the game -GuessTheGame’s submission guidelines encourage screenshots of cutscenesand environmentsfor the first two or three entries, with them getting easier and revealing more of the game with each stage.
