One ofGTA Online’s many features is its variety of arcade games. Thanks to the efforts of a few dataminers, it seems thatGTA Onlinemay receive a new arcade game modeled afterManhunt,one of Rockstar’s classic releases.
The information was revealed by dataminer @GypsytheScumbag, who was reportedly the first to find assets for an unreleased arcade game hidden in the files ofGTA Online’s latest update. They found and posted a model of aManhuntthemed arcade machine on Twitter. Shortly after, YouTuber TheNathanNS posted additional images of file names, placeholder assets, and the model of a revolver.

For players who may not remember,Manhuntwas a stealth-basedsurvival horror gamedeveloped by Rockstar and released for the PS2 in 2003. The game was controversial for its gory violence and depictions of gruesome executions. The Chicago Tribune even went as far as calling it “the most violent video game of all time.” But whileManhunt’s graphic violence scared away some, it earned the title a cult following that led to a sequel in 2007, though that game was more focused on psychological horror than stealth.
UnlikeDoom Eternal’s in-game version of the originalDOOM, it is unlikely that the arcade game inGTA Onlinewill be a full port ofManhunt. The assets that have been revealed so far seem to suggest that it will instead take the form of an on-rails shooter.
While Manhunt never reached the widespread popularity thatGTAandRed Dead Redemptionhave, it remains a classic in Rockstar’s catalog. Some fans still hope to see the title remastered for current-gen systems, while others have even expressed a desire for another sequel.Manhunthas already seen unofficial remasterswith the help of modders, but Rockstar has never indicated that it plans on giving the 13-year-old title an official remaster. The originalManhuntis playable on the PS4 and PS5 through backward compatibility.
GTA Onlineis still riding the wave of its latest update: The Cayo Perico Heist. The update is the largest inGTA Online’s history, adding the new island location of Cayo Perico and a storyline that involves stealing from a drug lord with an army of armed guards. The update even includes acameo appearance by Dr.Dre, as well as a 2.2 million GTA$ submarine that is required to access parts of the new island. Luckily for players, playing theManhuntarcade game will undoubtedly be a lot cheaper.
GTA Onlineis available on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with versions for the PS5 and Xbox One X/S in development.
