Warning! The following guide contains major spoilers for God of War: Ragnarök’s late-game missions and boss fights! After the credits roll onGod of War: Ragnarök, after all the death and destruction, there is but one true enemy standing: Gna, the new Valkyrie Queen. After cutting a path through Kratos' allies during “The Realms at War,” she failed to protect the All-Father when he needed her most. She now awaits Kratos inthe flame-licked depths of Muspelheim, vowing to either avenge Odin’s death, or join him in Valhalla.
The fight with Gna will likely be the biggest challenge most players will face inGod of War: Ragnarok. It seems clear that Sony Santa Monica -Ragnarök’s developers-wanted to build on the alreadyincredibly difficult fight with Sigrunfrom 2018’sGod of War.There’s no doubt that Gna is a seriously tough enemy, but with preparation and practice, she will fall to the God of War and the true Queen of the Valkyries.

Upgrade All Equipment:
Gna is a high-level boss, likely level 9. Coming into this fight under-leveled is a sure-fire way to get destroyed in record time. If Kratos wishes to reach level 9, he must fully upgrade every piece of equipment that he can. This will require a considerable amount of upgrade materials, many of which are only available through “The Last Remnants of Asgard” post-game quest. Fighting Gna at level 8 certainly is more challenging, but it is still possible. Anything lower becomes more than just a challenge, and is not recommended.
How to find Gna, the Valkyrie Queen:
To locate Gna, Kratos must first complete several different objectives:
Simply travel toThe Crucible in Muspelheim, and look for an opening on the right side of the main arena. Follow the path until Kratos and Freya reach the new arena. Here they will find a small campsite, along with some kind of book or journal. Pressing circle to interact with the book initiates the fight. Good luck!
How to Defeat Gna in God of War: Ragnarök
Gna’s fight doesn’t happen in stages or sections, she simply has one excruciatingly long health bar. Some players of late have taken tobeating her in mere secondson the hardest difficulty, but the mortals among us should prepare for a drawn-out battle. Lunda has a forge at the entrance to Muspelheim, so verify topick up a resurrection stonebefore the fight.
Failure is an important part of this fight. While many of Gna’s attacks will seem unstoppable at first, each death will be a chance to learn. Try to analyze and learn at least one attack type per round and the tables will turn very quickly. Remain patient and have fun! Using this method, truly anyone can defeat Gna.

Examining Each of Gna’s Attacks
Many of Gna’s attacks will be familiar to players ofGod of War.As a Valkyrie, some of her attacks are updated versions of attacks seen in the previous game. But this is not the previous game, and Gna will let us know that by using all the new tricksRagnarökhas to offer.
Red-Ring Attacks:
Attack 1 - Charging Wing Variants: When Gna is at a distance, she will quickly close the gap with a charging extended wing strike. This attack can also come at the end of a wing-spin. They all have the same basic solution.
Solution:Gna always uses her right wing for this attack, so Kratos can time it perfectly and simply dodge-step to the right to avoid it.Do not roll.Kratos will have a window of attack if he step-dodges.

Attack 2 - Flaming Spear:Two wing-spin attacks, followed by a red-ring attack with a spear type weapon. The weapon has a flaming tip which will set Kratos on fire with a single hit.
Solution:This attack can only be dodged. The AOE from the hit is fairly large, so rolling out of the way is likely the best solution.

Attack 3 - Vibrating Rock:Gna gathers rock from the ground to throw at Kratos. It is clearly covered in thevibration/sound energy.
Solution:As the energy gathers, have Freyashoot asonic arrowat the mass of energy. This will cause an explosion, leaving Gna briefly incapacitated.

Attack 4 - Hazard Rings:Gna will use two small weapons to create floating rings of hazardous material (Poison, Fire, Ice) that circle her body, expanding outwards with every spin.
Solution:Kratos canthrow the Leviathan Axeinto the hazard, causing it to pop. When they are still close together, both will explode, covering Gna in the hazard.

Attack 5 - Double Jump-Kick Variants: Gna shouts “Kneel,” jumping into the air, pausing for a moment, then striking with her foot. The second attack is the red-ring variant, which includes an Ice hazard effect.Sometimes Gna will go straight to the second kick. Watch for the red ring!
Solution:Either dodge both, or parry the first kick. Watch for the AOE of the ice effect on the second kick, it can get Kratos even if the kick does not.

Attack 6 - “Bath in Fire!":When Gna screams those words, look for the purple sigil magic symbol at the tip of her spear. If not countered, the spear will spew a trail of fire straight at Kratos.
Solution:Have Freya shoot thepurple sigil arrowsat Gna. This will counter the attacks and leave her vulnerable. If Kratos does not order in time, simply dodge the stream of fire, it cannot be blocked.

Attack 7- “Submit!":Gna charges at Kratos, from any distance, and grabs Kratos, launching him into the air and slamming him on the ground. This attack can be devastating.
Attack 8 -Jumping Projectiles:Gna has several projectiles, these are the non-bifrost version. Gna Jumps into the air, spins, and launches two bladed projectiles in a straight line.

Solution:Dodge. This is really the only choice with this attack.
Attack 9 - Bifrost Feather Projectile Variants:These attacks can be tricky because there are so many variants and Gna will often do two in a row of completely different type. These projectiles have a pink trail to them.
Solution:The red-ringed variant must be dodged. There are two basic attack variants, one that comes straight at Kratos and can be dodged, another that comes with a strange curve and must be blocked with a shield.Kratos will absorb some bifrost, but these seem to track him, making them seemingly impossible to dodge.

Attack 10 -Bifrost Meteor Shower:Gna calls in an un-blockable shower of bifrost. They fall in a straight line, leaving pools of bifrost where they land.
Solution:Quickly dodge the shower itself, but keep an eye on the pools. They build up a huge amount of bifrost status.
Attack 11 - “For Asgard!":Anyone who played the previous entry in the God of War franchisewill remember these wordswith a healthy spoonful of fear. This attack sees Gna jump straight up into the air, quickly landing back on Kratos, pinning him to the ground.
Solution:Wrong. She does it so fast that it can often be hard to really focus while in the heat of battle. The key here is not dodging immediately, but waiting a split-second. The players must get a sense of it themselves, and it will eventually become second-nature.

Blue-Ring Attacks:
Attack 1 - Shell Game:Often at the end of a wing-spin (though not always), Gna will use her wings to completely cover her body. She is invulnerable to all melee attacks when in this state.
Solution:As a blue-ring attack, only a double L1 shield-strike will suffice.
Attack 2 - Lightening Spear:Gna jumps up for a massive AOE lightening attack.
Solution:Double-L1 Shield attack. If Kratos does not attack in time, the electricity will stun him, requiring the player to mash the circle button to be released.
Basic and Yellow-Ringed Attacks:
Attack 1 - Swirling Spear:This yellow-ringed attack finds Gna leap at Kratos while spinning like a corkscrew, attacking multiple times.
Solution:This attack can be parried, but be careful, sometimes parrying the first attack does not stop her from attacking again. Learn the timing and parry twice for amazing results.
Attack 2 - Prepare for Takeoff:Gna swings two massive wing-strikes, then extends her wings to prepare for a very fast series of twirling attacks.
Solution:Kratos can either jump backand avoid Gna altogether, or absorb the hits with his shield. If he remains close, watch out for fast follow-up attacks.
Attack 3 - Quad-Bladed Weapon Attacks:One of the few truly basic attacks Gna will use. She will swing and throw a four-bladed weapon. This is usually done when Kratos is fairly close to her. More often than not, Gna will use this as a lead-in to more dangerous attacks.
Solution:All the basic variations can be blocked or parried.
Attack 4 - Wave of Earth:A yellow-ringed attack that sees Gna jump straight up and smash into the ground, sending a small wave of energy pushing forward.
Solution:If close enough, this attack is prime parry material. If at a distance, either back up out of range, or attempt to dodge through it.
Seeing it Through to the End:
Hopefully, with trial and error, and the help provided here, Kratos will be able to triumph. The Gna fight, like all difficult fights in gaming,is like a puzzle. The pieces are here, explained, but the player must still put them together to see the bigger picture. Ridiculous clichés aside, there really is no substitute for putting in the time. Good Luck… Again!
