What is Ghost Recon Frontline’s Expedition Mode?
Ghost Recon Frontlinehas two primary game modes to keep fans entertained. The first of which is a nine vs nine domination mode called Control, which will have a familiar premise to most fans of multiplayer shooters. But the main mode that will be of interest to fans isFrontline’snew Expedition mode. This isFrontline’slarge scale battle royale-type mode that has provoked equal parts interest and ire in theGhost Reconfanbase. While some fans are disappointed to see theGhost Reconfranchise produce its own battle royale mode andfollow in the footsteps of the likes ofCall of Duty Warzone, andBattlefield 5: Firestorm, others have noted thatGhost Recon Frontline’sExpedition mode looks like a unique take on the genre.
InFrontline’sExpeditions mode, players are thrust into a 102 player lobby made up of 34 teams of three. The mode is set on Drakemoor island, which has recently seen an environmental disaster. On first impressions, this sounds like a fairly standard battle royale mode. However, unlike other battle royale modes where the combat circle is steadily closing on the centre of the map, there is no such circle in Expedition. Instead, players will be tasked with collecting three pieces of intel before fleeing the island by calling in an extraction helicopter. This will of course alert enemies to the player’s location, and the goal will then be to stave off the onslaught of enemy players and escape Drakemoor with all the intel.Frontline’sbattle royale modestands out among others that are available, so it may yet stand a fighting chance.
Ghost Recon Frontlineis in development for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
