Although many have likely already played through the game on PS4, this serves as another opportunity for new players to jump in and brings some fresh content for veterans. While this is no doubt exciting, players now know that the game will still have a massive file size similar to the PS4 version. This could be a major issue for some players, as one of themajor flaws of the PS5 is its limited storage spaceand the challenges of using an external hard drive with the console.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergradeis more than just a PS5 update, as it also comes with some new features as well. Players will be able to use the photo mode to take gorgeous screenshots in game, and it comes with multiple settings so players can prioritize graphics or performance. TheIntergradeupgrades are only available on PS5, however.

Compare this to the size of the original PS4 release of 85.965 GB and it doesn’t seem like much has changed. The PS5 touts its compression feature as a way to cut down on file size of games, but there wasn’t much of a reduction in this case. It’s possible that the files are similar because of all the new things added toIntergrade, in which case the file size would be insane on a PS4. This could explain whyIntergradeis skipping PS4 in favor of PS5.
For players without an external hard drive, the 81 GB download will take up around 12% of the console’s storage by itself, not leaving much room for other games. At this point players are no stranger to these kinds of numbers, withCall of Dutygames becoming infamous for their large file sizes, but it definitely emphasizes the need for a storage space upgrade on the PS5. The file size is slightly smaller in Asia and Japan, clocking in at around 77 GB instead.
For those players wanting to get a head start on this sizable download,Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergradepre-load starts on June 8th. This will be followed by the official June 10th release, at which point players can relive the story of the remake once more. It’s also important to keep in mind that thisfile size doesn’t include the Yuffie DLC, so save a bit of extra space on the SSD for that.
