One dedicatedFinal Fantasy 7fan has decided to pay tribute to the game through one of its most nostalgic elements: the main menu screen. They revamped the image of the screen to look more in line with modern games, not unlike that of the visuals in the upcomingFinal Fantasy 7 Remake.
FF7’s menu posed a simple design, one that made it pretty unforgettable: It’sCloud’s Buster Sword reflecting a warm spotlight that shines over both it and a wooden floor. Reddit user Ekkuses took this same image and gave it their own twist. The three primary elements are still there — the wooden floor, the spotlight, and the Buster Sword — but how they all interact with each other has been modified slightly, namely through the blade.

Now, instead of slightly hovering over the wooden floor, theBuster Sword’s tip pierces it, allowing the blade to stand and repose. The area pierced has little bits of chipped wood surrounding it, and the Materia slot near the hilt has a single yellow-green piece within.
The sword also doesn’t just reflect the spotlight but basks and glows in it. The wooden floor reflects the light this time around, too, using it to mirror the Buster Sword’s image. Overall, the redesign stays faithful to the original while giving it a bit more elegance.
For anyone interested enough in this reimaginedFinal Fantasy 7theme, Ekkuses has encouraged people to download it for use as a desktop background or phone screen. The image uploaded to Reddit is full HD with 1920x1080 dimensions. However, Ekkuses' also uploaded a 4K version to their Imgur account for anyone wanting better quality.
Ekkuses' Imgur also features images that show the reimagined menu screen at different angles. The angles capture it from a bird’s-eye view and a worm’s-eye view. There’s a closeup shot of theMateriaresting and glowing in the blade, too. And there’s even an image that shows what the sword looks like without all the details added. In other words, there are plenty of options to choose from if the regular re-creation doesn’t cut it.
And — minor spoilers for theFinal Fantasy 7 Remake’s menu — if the original game’s menu and this reimagined one makes anyone hopeful thatRemakewill do something similar, then they’re in luck. The full game doesn’t use the menu screen from theFF7 Remakedemo. Instead, it uses a reimagining of the originalFinal Fantasy 7’s.
