Back in May,Final Fantasy 14showed off a plethora of new locations that Warriors of Light will be visiting in theEndwalkerexpansion. With the embargo on theEndwalkerMedia Tour expiring today, streamers, raiders, andWorld of Warcraftrefugeeswho were invited to attend shared a closer look at two of the new areas, as well as one of the hub cities.
During theFinal Fantasy 14: EndwalkerMedia Tour, fans were able to explore and battle across Garlemald, the heart of the high-tech magitek empire currently going through political struggles, and Thavnair, a technicolor paradise with Indian-inspired imagery. They were also able to visit Old Sharlayan, one of the two new cities that players would be spending time in during and after the story.Minor spoilers forFinal Fantasy 14: ShadowbringersandEndwalkerfollow.

As players who have completedShadowbringersare aware, theGarlean Empire is having some trouble inEndwalker, and a quick tour across the snow-covered ruins of the capitol can show that the city has lost any semblance of order it once had. To make matters worse, the FATEs in the area hint at an “unknown malefactor” reprogramming the magitek constructs to go haywire and attack anyone, be they allied forces or Garlean refugees. Thavnair, in contrast, is a bright and beautiful jungle full of color and majesty. Though not besieged by berserking bots, adventurers will no doubt encounter struggles of a different sort, like those found within the Tower of Zot, the expansion’s first dungeon.
SinceHeavensward, eachFinal Fantasy 14expansion has had safe havens that players can find different services and amenities at, and inEndwalker, Old Sharlayan is one of those two hub cities, serving a similar function as theCrystarium did inShadowbringers. Beyond the marvelous statues and mammet-manned kiosks, players will find an old and prestigious city of scholars, magic, and science which carries a long legacy of learning with it, down to the individual classrooms devoted to certain fields of study. The reclusive city is selective with who it allows into its borders, so there are certain to be many secrets discovered there throughoutEndwalker.
Final Fantasy 14has already revealed a couple of other zonesthat didn’t appear in the Media Tour, including Labyrinthos, an underground area lit by an artificial sun, Mare Lamentorium, a mysterious zone on Hydaelyn’s moon full of mysterious buildings, and Radz-at-Han, the capital city of Thavnair and the other hub city ofEndwalker. As if those were not exciting enough,Final Fantasy 14: Endwalkerhas another zone or two in store for fans that haven’t been revealed, and will have to be discovered after the expansion’s release next month.
With the Media Tour’s embargo now at an end, a couple of fan-favorite events returning next week, and the final Live Letter from the Producer in just over three weeks,Final Fantasy 14fans have a lot to doover the next month.
Final Fantasy 14is available now on PC, PS4, and PS5.Endwalkerlaunches on November 23.
