Reddit user Gluttonforcrime recently took to the GamingDetails subreddit to point out an interesting Easter egg found inFallout: New Vegasthat references the real-life crime couple Bonnie and Clyde.Fallout: New Vegasfansmay remember the Vikki and Vance Casino located in Primm, with Vikki and Vance obviously meant to be theFalloutuniverse’s versions of Bonnie and Clyde. InFallout: New Vegas, the Vikki and Vance Casino has been robbed by Pauline and Sammy Wins, a post-apocalyptic take on Bonnie and Clyde/Vikki and Vance. They have stashed Vance’s gun in a safe, and ifFallout: New Vegasplayersare able to talk Sammy into it, he will give up the combination so they can retrieve the stolen gun. As revealed by Sammy Wins, the safe combination is 05-23-24.
Fallout: New Vegasplayers that don’t bother trying to talk to Sammy Wins may never learn the safe combination, and even those that do learn the safe combination may not realize that it’s a deeper reference to Bonnie and Clyde. As it turns out, 05-23-24 is also the date that Bonnie and Clyde died after the two of them were gunned down by Texas Ranger Frank Hamer and his posse.
History buffs may have picked up on this before, but this Easter egg may be a new detail to otherFallout: New Vegasplayers. In any case, it will be interesting to see if there are similar Easter eggs hiding in the possibleFallout: New Vegas 2. While such a game has not been announced in an official capacity, reliable sources have suggested that conversations have started at Microsoft aboutproducing aFallout: New Vegas 2with developer Obsidian Entertainmentonce again given the reigns.
If aFallout: New Vegas 2ever happens, it will likely be years before it’s even shown or anyone actually gets to play it. In the meantime, those hungry for freshNew Vegasexperiences may want to check out theambitious Nuevo Mexico modthat’s in the works.
