Evil Dead: The Gameis a love letter to fans of the series. There’s tons of voice-acting and movie quips directly from the characters, iconic items, and a lot of Easter Eggs. Players can even find themselves in the original cabin where the Deadite disaster started, complete with one rather angry possessed soul trying to escape the crawlspace below. It’s a beautifully-designed open-world-style release that pays excellent homage to the original films and the recent (and well-received) episodic series.

But beneath the movie references lies a pretty entertaining game, with players banding together as a team of four to attempt to re-seal the evil within the Necronomicon. Conversely, a single player will control their own veritable army of Deadites, as they slide their way through the open world and possess A.I. units to overwhelm the survivors and destroy the book forever. These mechanics allow players to pick and choose their favorite survivor or Deadite, giving them a slew of unique skills that they can use on the battlefield. Some of these skills must be unlocked, and it will take players quite a bit of EXP to master just one of the available characters. Here’s a look at how players can level up quickly inEvil Dead: The Gameand start unlocking their desired skills and passives.

Unfortunately,as it stands, there is no way for players to farm EXP for Survivors by simply repeating tasks or completing daily missions or bonuses(there are currently none available, but hopefully that structure will change in the future). As it currently stands, the only way for players to gain EXP for their Survivor-of-choice is to either join a PVP match where four players do battle against a human-controlled Kandarian Demon or to join an A.I. match with other players (or friends). In an A.I. match, human-controlled Survivors will do battle against an A.I.-controlled Kandarian Demon.

Although it’s preferable for most to play against an A.I. opponent when they are leveling up and building up their character, this particular mode doesn’t grant as much EXP as a traditional PVP-style match. Conversely, some human-controlled Kandarian Demon opponents can be very difficult to beat and can have Survivors running for their lives rather than completing objectives. Because of this, for some, it can be faster and easier to gain EXP from A.I.-based matches asit’s easier for Survivors to get around the A.I. opponent. That said, players will need to understand that playing only A.I. matches may stunt their EXP gain compared to jumping into the fray of PVP.

It’s also important to note that players canonly gain EXP for the Kandarian Demon classes by actively participating as them in PVP. Currently, there is no mode in which a human-controlled Kandarian Demon can do battle against A.I.-controlled Survivors. Those that wish to level up their Kandarian Demon classes will have to engage in PVP to gain experience. It is also impossible to gain experience in Solo Mode.

In its current state, these are the only methods in which players can gain EXP to level up their Survivors and Kandarian Demons. As a product,it’s suggested that players attempt to put together a team of their friendsin order to have the best chance to survive and reap the rewards of a victory. Some Kandarian Demons can be incredibly strong, and even more so in the hands of a capable player. Having a dedicated team that communicates well and effectively can be the key to surviving (and beating) a human-controlled Kandarian Demon and gaining the most EXP possible.
