Since its inception, theEpic Games Launcherhas navigated its own unique suite of challenges. Perhaps the biggest competitor to Steam currently on the market, Epic’s platform launched with a relatively small number of features, making up ground by offering developers better cuts of sales. New features have been implemented over time, withEpic Games Launcher adding achievementsin a recent update. However, it hasn’t all been smooth sailing.

Some users have reported problems with theEpic Launcher’s achievement system. It seems that achievements don’t always sync on the platform, a frustrating issue for players looking to share their accomplishments with their friends. However, it appears that Epic Games is currently aware of the issue and looking for a permanent fix, though it’s not entirely clear how long that will take.

Over on Twitter, Epic Games Director of Publishing Sergiy Galyonkin commented on a post made by another user about achievement syncing issues. Galyonkin confirmed that the syncing problems are a known issue with Epic Achievements and that the company is currently working on a fix. Galyonkin stated that users' achievements are indeed being recorded, but that there’s an issue on Epic’s side that’s causing problems. No timeline was given for when a fix could be implemented.

Most major platforms carry some sort of achievement system, though they aren’t necessarily vital to an experience. For example, Nintendo has no achievements on the Switch, and yet the Switch is regularly the top-selling console month-to-month. Of course, achievements are a consistently requested feature for Nintendo, as they were for theEpic Games Launcher when it was first introduced.

The real benefit of achievements is that they encourage players to not only play more games but also tackle challenges in new, interesting ways. While some games are solely about easy Gamerscore gains, others will make players work to earn achievements, trophies, or any other metric that such a system uses. It’s understandable that not being able to see unlocked achievements would ruffle some feathers.

Those that are encountering issues withEpic Games Launchercan’t do much more than wait for a fix at this moment. Luckily, this seems like a problem that can be tackled relatively quickly, at least from an outsider looking in perspective. Once the current issues are cleared up, it should mean that Epic Games is able to churn out new features for the platform a bit faster.
