InThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Hyrule is a dangerous place where there are enemy camps filled with Lizalfos, Bokoblins, and other monsters. They are terrifying foes, though Link can employ plenty of strategies to take on the camps whether it’s through stealth or a frontal assault. Enemy camps will be back inThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and it appears that enemy camps will play a larger role. Bokoblins are seen mining, whichcould be a part of Ganondorf’s plot.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomtrailers show that Ganondorf will be using the monsters of Hyrule for his bidding, though it is not clear just yet how the plot will unfold. Improvements to enemy camps are welcome, as they get somewhat repetitive inBreath of the Wild. Whether the enemies are attempting to build something for Ganondorf, or mine minerals to power some kind of weapon has yet to be seen.

Enemy Camps in Breath of the Wild
As Link explores Hyrule and prepares for hisshowdown against Calamity Ganon, he encounters several enemy camps scattered throughout the land. These camps are filled with various monsters wielding an assortment of weapons. The camps are a good way for players to test out the game’s mechanics and figure out creative ways to eliminate enemies. For example, if Link is too outnumbered, it may be wiser to go the stealth route and drop bombs into the camp while remaining unseen. Once all the enemies are down, Link can also loot the camps for resources and weapons.
One of the downsides of enemy camps inBreath of the Wildis that they feel somewhat inconsequential. Although there is some variation between the camps, they follow the same basic structure which gets old once players have figured it out. Furthermore, the camps don’t have much effect on the narrative, as oncethe Blood Moonrises, all the camps players have taken down are filled with new enemies. This could be mended inTears of the Kingdom, as it appears the camps will be more closely tied to the plot.

Why Are the Bokoblins Mining in Tears of the Kingdom?
In aTears of the Kingdomtrailer, Bokoblins are seen mining minerals in a dark cave. Mining ore isn’t strange, as it is something players can do inBreath of the Wild. However, it is unusual to see Bokoblins do this. This gives fans reason to wonder what the monsters may be up to, and it may be connected to Ganondorf’s plot. The most obvious guess is that the Bokoblins are building a weapon, structure, or large machine of some sort. Alternatively, the minerals could be used to power a weapon. Either way, this would give players greater motivation to tackle enemy camps instead of just skirting around them. By taking down enemy camps, players may be helping toslow down Ganondorf’s nefarious plans, giving players more reason to tackle them.
The wait forTears of the Kingdomis growing shorter with each day, though Nintendo has remained oddly secretive about the upcoming title. Trailers have demonstrated that there will be plenty of new features, including a glider for Link to ride, as well as a vehicle that appears to be customizable. Though theenemies fromBreath of the Wildare back, it appears that they will be playing a larger role, which means players may have to take on new approaches.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomis scheduled to release on May 12 on Nintendo Switch.
