OneElden Ringplayer has a horrific experience with one of the game’s Revenants as it jump scares them.Elden Ringcan be quite horrifying, and not just from how difficult it is. There are enemies in the game that give off genuine horror vibes, and can scare the player, be it intentionally or not, an example of the latter being things likeUlcerated Tree Spirits grabbing players through walls. But when those intentional moments hit due to an intended enemy mechanic, players can have quite a bad time trying to get themselves out of it.
Revenants are enemies inElden Ringthat many players have had poor experiences with. They are aggressive enemies with multiple limbs to strike with, their boss version theRoyal Revenant having a devastating combo attack that can destroy players. While they can be dangerous to attack from close up, that doesn’t mean that they cannot get to the player from afar. One of their prominent abilities is using magic to be able to travel through areas via portals, sometimes emerging from behind their opponent to take them on.

One unfortunate Tarnished seemingly didn’t knowElden Ring’s Revenants could do this, and fell victim to this spell while trying to pick one off from afar. Posting to r/Eldenring, user AmnesiaKhronikk uploaded a video of them trying to take a Revenant out from afar using a bow. They only get one shot off before the Revenant teleports behind them. They try to run away, but the Revenant attacks them in the back, sending them both down to the ground floor, leaving the player with very little health, and a still-alive Revenant at their feet, ready to attack.
They avoid a Revenant attack and begin to run, their stamina able to take them to the nearest ladder, where they heal. However, it seems the chase is not over, for they look down to see another enemy at their heels. They continue to climb, getting to the top only to see anErdtree Avatar in their way. Fortunately, the player is able to run past them, only suffering a single shot to the back before running all the way to the nearest Site of Grace, where they recuperate from such a horrific experience.
Experiences like these are a dime a dozen inElden Ring, with FromSoftware finding more ways to traumatize their players by putting them through the ringer. If it’s not dying many times to the game’s hardest boss Malenia, it’s gettingambushed by Lobsters after trying to jump over one. Yet, that’s what makesElden Ringso special, is the ability to get into these situations and possibly come out victorious.
Elden Ringis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
