AnElden Ringplayer showcased their insane build that pours all of its rune levels into one stat, completely over-leveling it far beyond what is necessary.Elden Ringhas become one of the most successful video games of all time. Developed by FromSoftware, the studio behind previous successes such asDark SoulsandBloodborne, the game has proven to be an immersive full-blown adventure. With an extremely vast open world, a complex combat system, and deep lore, it’s no wonder that fans have been playing endlessly.

Gamers who are familiar withElden Ringknow that as one moves through the Lands Between and collect runes, they can use those runes in order to level up and strengthen their character. There are several attribute categories that players can upgrade such as vigor, mind, and endurance. All of these attributes serve a different purpose and increase different stats for their character. MostElden Ringcharacter buildstend to be balanced, allocating stats evenly across all attributes, but some choose to stick with only a few categories, essentially limiting their flexibility but improving their overall effectiveness.

Althoughthere are many crazy ways to playElden Ring, one player took this strategy to an extreme by choosing only to level up one stat for most of the game. Reddit user ja-kk posted a picture of their build online with the caption, “Where did I go wrong with my build? My friends say it is bad.” The user displayed a photo of their characters stats with one attribute standing out among the rest. With a level 95 character ja-kk had an absurd 99 dexterity. They poured every resource they had into this attribute category, only slightly leveling their vigor, endurance, and strength, all which sit below 20.

Many in the Soulsborne community often joke about how much they despise players who choose dexterity over strength, but this build may not be as bad as it seems on the surface. While they have neglected almost every other attribute, having an extremely high dexterity stat will allow the character to output some serious damage whenpaired with some specific dexterity weapons. This is more of a glass-cannon build that will take some skill to utilize properly, but can be done.

Some users in the comments section are joking with the original poster that they “accidentally leveled dex instead of strength” or that their other stats are way too high, and they need to respec to place those points into dexterity. Other users are coming to give advice on how to edit the build for a more balanced approach. At a certain pointevery stat inElden Ringgets diminishing returnsand placing points into that attribute becomes worthless. The drop-off for dexterity is 80, so players are recommending they reduce the stat to 80 and reallocate points elsewhere.

Elden Ringis a game that offers players freedom above all else, and ja-kk’s unconventional approach to character building is the perfect example of this. Their unorthodox playstyle is a testament to the fact that there is no right way to play a game.

Elden Ringis out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
