AnElden Ringplayer has just managed to defeat Malenia in less than two minutes while at Rune Level 1. FromSoftware’s blockbuster action-RPG is filled with frightening monsters and punishing bosses for players to challenge, and one of the most noteworthy and difficult is Malenia, Blade of Miquella. This powerful warrior is one of the mystical Empyreans, and while she is an optional boss inElden Ring, she remains a fierce opponent for aspiring Elden Lords.
Ever sinceElden Ringwas first released to much critical acclaim last February, players have been posting videos of themselves besting Malenia in creative ways. One especially notable player, operating under the handle of Let Me Solo Her, has gained renown across theElden Ringfanbase for defeating Malenia no less than 2,000 times with only a ceramic pot on their head and twin katanas in their hands. Others havevanquished Malenia at a mere Level 1using strategic items, avoiding taking any damage from her, and even battling two clones of the legendary boss at the same time.

A Reddit user named gilfordtan recently shared their own victory against Malenia on r/Eldenring. They went into the fight at Rune Level 1, wielding the fiery Flamberge greatsword and using the Giant Hunt Ash of War to balance their Tarnished’s Strength and Dexterity enough to stand toe-to-toe with Malenia without any additional equipment. As a result of this, gilfordtan manages to take down Malenia in both her default appearance andher second-phase Goddess of Rot formin less than two minutes, with the Giant Hunt skill that the Ash of War grants serving as the final blow.
Not everyone who has challenged Malenia has been as successful as Let Me Solo Her and gilfordtan, as manyElden Ringplayers have reportedlydied by her hand hundreds of times. One especially unlucky Tarnished actually managed to defeat Malenia only to wind up trapped in the flower she leaves in her wake due to a glitch. All the same, battling Malenia remains a rite of passage for manyElden Ringfans, and some players have even recreated her iconic look in other games likeFortnite.
These fans might learn more about Malenia’s past in the coming months, asElden Ring’s first story-based DLCis said to be centered around Malenia’s currently unfought twin brother Miquella. In the meantime,Elden Ringplayers like gilfordtan continue to come up with interesting strategies to defeat the notorious Blade of Miquella in battle and join the ranks of the proud Tarnished who have challenged this great foe and lived to tell of it.
