Dragon Age 4is in development at BioWare, and if recent teases and hints are to be believed, it could release as early as late 2023. That’s still quite a wait forDragon Age 4fans, but what’s important isn’t when it comes out, it’s how it comes out. AfterAnthem, many are understandably worried about the state of the game, but it’s reassuring that it’s in no rush with a single-player focus.
While there’s a lot confirmed about the next adventure Thedas, such as Solas’ plan to tear down the Veil and the game taking place in Tevinter, one of the most anticipated elements are theDragon Age 4companions. While BioWare has yet to confirm any of these figures and isn’t likely to for a while, there are three characters who could potentially fit the bill so far.

Dragon Age 4: Bellara is One of Three Possibly-Revealed Companions
The first and most recent isVarric, the beloved Dwarven Rogueof the franchise. He narrated the last trailer, and with such a big role in the marketing, it stands to reason he’ll return inDragon Age 4. He was a companion inDragon Age 2andDragon Age: Inquisition, so it’s certainly not a stretch. In an ever-changing world, Varric is the constant.
The other two are less known, BioWare one showed off two actors playing their characters. The on-screen text reveals the first is named Davrin and the second is Bellara. Davrin makes a cry “for the Wardens!,” obviously revealing his in-game role. Davrin isn’t inanyDragon Agelore, and it’s unlikely that a new, random Grey Warden who isn’t a companion would be shown off. It’s not certain, but being joined by a Grey Warden would fit in. While Davrin is at least somewhat obvious about his character, Bellara is less so.

Dragon Age 4’s Bellara Has the Most Mystery Around Her
While this could easily be reading too heavily into something, Bellara’s line does perhaps contain a few hints for her character. The line delivery and general sense of “no, no, no, it’s okay, that’s the good kind of rumble” sounds playful and grounded, but with a twang of seriousness. The delivery sounds very Dwarven, potentially putting a female Dwarf on the roster. At the very least, again, it’s likely that Bellara plays some huge role in the game.
However, the playfulness of calling something a “good kind of rumble” cannot be overlooked either.Dragon Age: Inquisition’s Sera andMass Effect: Andromeda’s Peebeeare both playful, kind-of random characters, and Bellara sounds similar to them in this regard. To what extent obviously cannot be stated, but it would line up with what’s known.
Unfortunately, many had hopedValta would return inDragon Age 4as a companion, given that she is a female Dwarf with access to some form of Titan magic. It’s unlikely that both Bellara and Valta are companions though.
It all ultimately remains to be seen, but whether Bellara is a companion or not,Dragon Age 4’s companions have a lot to live up to.Iron Bull, Varric, Dorian, Fenrir, and many more have become long-beloved characters; it’ll be interesting to see if Bellara joins them.
