Summary
Blizzard is reportedly banningDiablo 4players found using an exploit that lets them transfer their Eternal Realm characters to the Seasonal Realm. ThisDiablo 4bug was recently discoveredby a community member which quickly became the talk of the town considering how game-breaking it was.
Diablo 4Season 1 introduced the concept of Eternal and Seasonal Realms, with players having to create a new character as their existing ones wouldn’t be able to access the seasonal content. However, players found a way to circumvent the system and were able to temporarily transfer their Eternal characters to the Seasonal Realm.Blizzard addressed this glitch inDiablo 4, saying that it already fixed it during a recent hotfix and that players won’t be able to do it again. The developer also mentioned that it had “actioned” on some accounts, but didn’t reveal the nature of it. Now, it seems that those actions involved actually banning accounts of exploiters according to a Reddit post.

As explained by user SaintCharlie on theDiablo 4subreddit, their friend was reportedly banned for using the same exploit. Said friend also appealed the decision as they thought it was for buying gold inDiablo 4, but the Blizzard team revealed that it was indeed because they used the character transfer glitch. Right now, it isn’t clear if the bans being handed out are permanent or temporary, or if they are even being handed out to other people considering this is one of the first instances to come to light. Nevertheless, players in the comments defended Blizzard’s decision to dish out bans considering it violatedDiablo 4’s Terms of Service.
Earlier, Blizzard had warned users of the consequences ofusing third-party software inDiablo 4, which could even lead to a permanent ban. Consequently, since this exploit involved a fair bit of tampering with the game, many members of the community are of the opinion that Blizzard’s decision is justified.
Bugs and glitches have existed inDiablo 4since its launch, but thankfully Blizzard has been proactive in addressing those. For instance, thepatch notes forDiablo 4update 1.1.1addressed multiple such fixes across characters and the overall game as well, along with other changes based on player feedback.
Diablo 4is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
