Before long, the holidays will be here and many gamers will be anticipating new titles, new merch, and more as gifts. This period of gaming is always one of its busiest fromBlack Friday salesto Christmas gift-giving, and many are likely counting down the days until then. This year, licensed merchandise retailer Numskull is here to help with that countdown.
Using an Advent Calendar to help count down the days until Christmas is nothing new, but Numskull is taking an interesting approach to this holiday tradition. It is releasing a series of character countdowns that feature buildable figurines based onpopular franchises likeSonic the Hedgehog, Destiny, Star Trek, andThe Grinch.

Each countdown character, as seen below, is a unique figurine. TheSonic the HedgehogCountdown Character sees fans build a version of the Blue Blur that is snowboarding while surrounded by the franchise’s iconic rings. TheDestinyCountdown Character is a Ghost with a gingerbread shell, complete with a stand for display purposes.Star Trekfans will be able to build the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-D), whileThe Grinchfigurine sees the titular grump sneaking off with a bag filled with trees, toys, and other festive decorations, all of course before his heart grows three sizes.
The process of building theseNumskullfigurines is pretty simple too: each day, a window will contain a piece of the character that can be pushed and clipped into other pieces. There is no glue or other parts needed that could potentially complicate the building process. Consumers will simply do this for the first 24 days of December, and they’ll have their figurine complete come Christmas Eve. Once complete, collectors will be able to display however they please, and the Collector’s Box can be stored or used as part of the display.

Numskull has worked with several established and beloved IPs in the past, includingCall of Duty, Fortnite, Harry Potter, and many more, but it’s hard to argue with these picks for character countdowns. This is because there will be a lot of activity with some of these IPs in the coming weeks and months. The Grinch, of course, is a holiday classic, but then Bungie is hosting a major showcase later this month, where it is expected to show a little of its2023Destiny 2Lightfall expansion.
TheSonic the Hedgehogfigurine will pair nicely with theholiday release ofSonic Frontiers, barring any delays of course, andStar Trekis a quintessential gift for many Sci-Fi fans. Fans will want to get their hands on these before December 1 and can expect Numskull to reveal more information relatively soon.
