A streamer has completed the Macrocosm Raid encounter inDestiny 2’s newest raid, Root of Nightmares, solo. This is one encounter that requires the entire raid team to be in sync and takes at least four people if running normally. However, the word “impossible” doesn’t sit well withDestiny 2players, and the community has hailed the streamer for their amazing achievement.
Destiny 2’s Root of Nightmares raid released withLightfall, and Team Hard in the Paint completed it in a record 2 hours and 24 minutes on Day 1 during contest mode. More than 100,000 players completed the raid on contest mode, which was also a first for anyDestiny 2raid. This was possible because players had 48 hours to finish the raid in contest mode. These statistics led players to believe that this raid is fairly easy to complete, but while that might be a topic for debate, completing the Macrocosm encounter solo is no small feat.

This triumph was accomplished by a streamer named NAPainter, who finished the encounter using multiple strategies and loadouts. They usedDestiny 2’s Warlock character with a Solar subclass, which was necessary considering a Well of Radiance super was crucial in finishing the encounter. They started off with the Sunbracers exotic build, which lets one spam solar grenades upon powered melee kills and helped to clear adds and survivability when paired with the Ember of Resolve fragment that grants Cure.
To begin with, NAPainter completed two Planetary Shifts in one cycle instead of the usual four. Since players need to jump across the map for this mechanic, the YouTuber used theWarlock Well skating method that came back toDestiny 2in 2021, which improved mobility. Once the mechanic was completed, they switched to another loadout with a Bait and Switch Cataclysmic as the heavy weapon and a Trace Rifle with the Shoot to Loot perk to grab heavy ammo from across the room. Then it was all about getting the maximum DPS during each phase. They came very close to wiping the during the final phase but managed to pull through.
The community has been celebrating NAPainter’s achievement as completing any raid encounter solo, especially one like this, is a commendable accomplishment. Macrocosm was the only encounter that hadn’t been completed solo so far, as players have already completed other encounters, includingDestiny 2’s Root of Nightmares final boss, Nezarec. Now, since the community knows this encounter can be done solo, players are calling for someone to complete the entire Root of Nightmares raid solo flawlessly.
Destiny 2is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
