SeveralDestiny 2players want major changes to the in-game economy, which involves rare materials necessary for masterworking weapons and armor. These rare materials may be acquired from numerous sources inDestiny 2including strikes, Nightfalls, and bounty completions.
This past February, theLightfallexpansion introduced a new campaign, the Strand subclass, and several new pieces of gear intoDestiny 2. Quality of life improvements and balance adjustments were made forLightfallas well, but the gear enhancement system remains relatively unchanged. New armor and weapons acquired inLightfallmay still be improved through the use of Enhancement Cores, Enhancement Prisms, and Ascendant Shards. These materials are readily available by completing playlist activities, but players believe several changes to the in-game economy must be made asDestiny 2heads intoSeason of the Deep.

Destiny 2player ThatGuyFromTheM0vie is constantly running out of Enhancement Cores despite completing several end-game activities every week, citing a problem with the game’s current economy. AlthoughEnhancement Cores are a common material, ThatGuyFromTheM0vie needs a large quantity of the material for weapon upgrades and Upgrade Module purchases. FellowDestiny 2players are running out of Enhancement Cores as well, believing that Bungie must make various quality of life changes to the in-game economy to ease the burden of upgrades. Changes suggested by the community include an increase to the amount of Enhancement Cores awarded per activity, a decrease in Enhancement Cores needed for weapon upgrades, and a feature that allows players to trade rare materials for a sizable amount of Enhancement Cores.
Currently,Destiny 2players may earn Enhancement Cores by leveling up vendor ranks, completing bounties and activities, and using the Finest Matterweave consumable. These methods have been available for a majority ofDestiny 2’slifespan thus far, but players believe the system is convoluted due to several methods being required to accrue a helpful sum of Enhancement Cores. VariousDestiny 2community members argue that the current in-game economy does not helpNew Lightplayers either.
Destiny 2’sin-game economyis a constant source of discussion in the community with many suggesting potential solutions for shortages of Enhancement Cores. Despite differing opinions, several users agree that Bungie should make changes to the in-game economy to improve quality of life withinDestiny 2. Changes to Enhancement Cores and upgrades may alleviate the player base’s frustrations for the foreseeable future.
Bungie greatly values user feedback forDestiny 2, so changes to the in-game economy may come in the future if players continue to voice their opinions. A change to the in-game economy inSeason of the Deep’s major updateremains to be seen, however.
Destiny 2is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
