Dead by Daylight’sasymmetrical horror action has only grown more dynamic over the years, and one of the biggest reasons is the game’s ever-expanding roster. With every new Survivor and Killer added, the game becomes more complex, as the pool of powers and perks grows deeper and more difficult to strategize around. Though Survivors do not have the complex powers that Killers do, each still brings unique perks and strategies to the game.

The game’sResident Evilcrossovers may have begun with Nemesis, but they didn’t end there. Project W introduces two new Survivors, Rebecca Chambers and Ada Wong, to join Jill, Leon, and the other Survivors in the Trials. Used properly, Rebecca Chambers' perks can make an important difference on any team. Here are some great beginner tips for using Rebecca Chambers.

5Better Than New

Though Survivors have few unique properties compared to Killers and essentially function as glorified skins once all of their perks have been unlocked, it’s still important to understand how to use their perks, especially if the player is going for the Adept achievement. Rebecca Chambers is a combat medic, andher perks are primarily oriented toward keeping other Survivors alive.

Her first perk,Better Than New,activates upon completing a healing action on another Survivor. Until that Survivor takes damage, their action speed for Healing, Unlocking, Cleansing, and Blessing is buffed.Better Than Newis a good fit for centered around healing and stackable buffs. Because it only benefits the other Survivor, however, it isn’t always the best pick for solo queue, and it won’t do much tosave the player from a great Nurseor Blight.

4Reassurance

Rebecca Chambers’s second perk,Reassurance,is probably her best. One of thestrongest Killer strategiesinDead by Daylightis camping (remaining close to a hooked Survivor to deny rescue attempts), a strategy thatReassurancedirectly counters. By pressing the Active Ability button within six meters of a hooked Survivor, the player can halt their Sacrifice Progress for the next 30 seconds.

30 seconds may not seem like much, but it can mean a massive amount of generator repair progress, and since the Killer is most likely camping when this perk is used, Survivors are free to work on generators unhindered. If the hooked Survivor is in the Struggle Phase, their skill checks are paused for the duration ofReassurance’seffect. ThoughReassurancecan only be used once per hook instance, it’s still incredible at punishing campers.

3Hyperfocus

Just like the powers ofKillers such as the Plague, the Huntress, and the Nurse require considerable practice and skill to use effectively, so do certain perks. Rebecca Chambers’s final perk,Hyperfocus,is easily her most complicated. It’s all about efficiency and skill, both of which can be a struggle for new players. Hitting a Great Skill Check while repairing or healing grantsHyperfocusa Token, to a maximum of six Tokens. For every Token, the following stack-able effects apply:

In brief, this means that skill checks will grow more frequent and more difficult to complete, butplayers who can consistently complete them will be rewarded with significant bonuses for their generator repair speed.Unfortunately, if the player succeeds on a Good Skill Check (rather than a Great One), fails a Skill Check, or is interrupted,Hyperfocusloses all Tokens. This caveat means that the benefits of this perk are tenuous and subject to being lost at any moment.

2Adept Rebecca Chambers

The goal of many players upon receiving a new character is to try to complete their Adept achievement, which requires escaping a Trial with that character while using only the character’sthree unique perks. Though this challenge is far easier to complete than the Adept achievements of Killers, it still requires a good deal of skill and knowledge of how to use the Survivor’s perks together, unless the Survivor intends to simply hide the entire match.

As it is with most Adept achievements, getting Rebecca Chambers’s Adept achievement is most easily accomplished in a Survive with Friends (SWF). Solo queue inDead by Daylightcan be punishing at the best of times, and given that two of Chambers’s perks directly benefit other Survivors rather than oneself, she is most effective when part of a team with coordinated perks. In solo queue, that’s all but impossible to achieve.

Because Rebecca Chambers can buff the action speed of others usingBetter Than New,she should be taking the lead in heals whenever possible. The player can also couple this perk withReassuranceby drawing close enough to the Survivor to pause their hook timer, wait for an unhook opportunity, and then rescue and heal the Survivor to grant the benefits ofBetter Than New.Alternatively, players who are more confident in their ability to hit skill checks than their ability to evade the Killer can find an isolated generator and useHyperfocusto complete it as fast as possible.

1Other Build Options

Players who want to lean into Rebecca Chambers’srole as a combat medichave some great options available to them. The nerf toSelf-Carehas made healing others more important than ever, soBotany Knowledgeis a great option for accelerating heals and increasing the efficiency of Med-Kits.

Boon: Circle of Healingremains a phenomenal Boon perk, andits AoE healing effect can turn the entire Trial in Survivors' favor, especially if the player can create the Boon in an out-of-the-way area that the Killer is less likely to disrupt. Add a Med-Kit to the mix and the player has the makings of a fantastic healing build.
