Summary
SomeSupermanfans didn’t approve of the photo they saw from James Gunn’s post when the director teased the upcoming superhero flick, so one designed his take of David Corenswet’sSupermancostume.
Gunn publicly confirmedSuperman: Legacyin January 2023 and announced it would be out by 2025. Last week, he shared an update, announcing that he was done with the final draft and that the final title of the anticipated movie would beSuperman. He also shared a glimpse of Corenswet’sSupermancostume, highlighting the suit’s “S” shield in yellow and red colors, with the rest of the costume left out of frame.

A number seemingly disapproved of the suit’s “S” shield because beforeSupermanstarted filming, the logo had appeared online through the cast members' nameplates during their table read, and it was noticeably based onMark Waid and Alex Ross’Kingdom Come. The primary distinction was the color, with Gunn’s Superman symbol using yellow instead of black.BossLogicshared his take on the costume by adding theKingdom Comehues and uploaded it on Instagram. The fan art showcased theSupermanlogo in red and black. It was also noticeably larger, which many fans seemingly approved.
The artist pointed out that he adjusted Corenswet’s body and the Superman logo because they wanted “him a little bigger and the logo even larger.” Several people praised the fan art, with one acknowledging how fast the artist made the adjustments based on his followers' feedback. Another said the version “looks much cleaner.” However, a few had some issues with the Superman logo being off-center while some didn’t like the fabric and the logo. Nevertheless, the majority liked the fan art.
Corenswet’s Superman costume has been among the favorite topics that online users discussed lately after Gunn gave a glimpse of the “S” shield. Many even speculatedwhat the rest of Corenswet’s Superman suit looked likebecause Gunn’s photo only showed the logo. This is a normal response from fans since costumes are significant elements in superhero movies and franchises likeSuperman. However, the subject has garnered too much attention, with some leaking fake photos of Corenswet rocking a Superman costume. One fan shared a snap of the actor in his Superman element and tagged Gunn to confirm if the costume in the photo circulating online was real or fake. TheGuardians of the Galaxydirector pointed out several factors that disprove the image’s authenticity, confirming it was fake. For instance, Corenswet’s hands in the picture looked plain and had no hint of bones or veins. His red trunks also appeared to be knitted with yarn. Additionally, the man holding the camera seemingly wore his pants with the drawstring in the back.
TheSupermancast is gearing up to start production. In January,Maria Gabriela de Faria shared a photoof her working hard to prepare for a “wild shoot.” Many believed that she was teasing her followers aboutSuperman. Gunn announced they had started the principal photography on Feb. 29, which coincided with Superman’s birthday. Although the director was careful to keep Superman’s costume under wraps, it might not take long before photos of the entireSupermancostume leak, especially since the production is underway.
Supermanis scheduled to be released in theaters on July 26, 2025.
