A new mod released forCrisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunionreplaces Zack’s normal outfit with Cloud’s iconic look fromFinal Fantasy 7: Advent Children. The newest entry in Square Enix’s ongoingFinal Fantasy 7saga has seen the franchise return to another classic entry, remaking the PSP spinoff that serves as a prelude toFinal Fantasy 7. The prequel has often been praised asone of the bestFinal Fantasy 7spinoffsfor its story and innovation with the game’s combat. Now, one fan is bringing in a reference to another iconic part ofFinal Fantasy 7lore.Since its release earlier this month, theCrisis Core: Final Fantasy 7remake has already seen plenty of mods from creative fans looking to spice up the game. Some early mods have looked to change up the look and feel of the player character, swapping the prequel protagonist Zack out for Cloud with his iconic Buster Sword. One particularly ambitious mod even swaps out the voice cast of the remake with the memorable voices of the original version. The mod swaps Zack’s normal standard-issue SOLDIER uniform for the outfit worn by Cloud in theFinal Fantasy 7sequel movie. Previews for the mod show off plenty of the finer details in re-creating the outfit including the iconic emblem affixed to the shoulder plating, as well as the texturing used on different pieces of clothing.
The mod’s page on NexusMods also reveals other details included as a part of theCrisis Coreoutfit mod. The modded outfit includes multiple versions with both the sleeveless and sleeved versions of theAdvent Childrenoutfit. The mod also features texture fixes to the Buster Sword whenwielded by Zack’s mentor, Angeal, throughout a majority of the game. Players won’t need to reserve a lot of free storage space to download the outfit mod either, as theAdvent Childrenoutfit will only require 125 MB of storage space to download.
Crisis Core’s release will look to tide over fans waiting for the next installment of theFinal Fantasy 7 Remaketrilogy by exploring the history of theFinal Fantasy 7world. The next main installment in the series,Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, is currently planned to launch in late 2023 or early 2024. Producer Yoshinori Kitase would also recently tease fans aboutupdates for the nextFinal Fantasy 7installment, claiming news will come “when the timing is right.” While fans will still be waiting forRebirth,Crisis Coreprovides a unique angle into the story of Cloud.
