Animation has been around since the very dawn of entertainment industry, and for the last 100 years, has greatly impacted the lives of children across the globe. While Disney animations dominated the 1920s-40s, theLooney Tuneswere prolific in the 1950s, and the 1960s saw an onslaught of new children-oriented animation, including beloved series likeThe Jetsons, The Flintstones, and of course,Scooby-Doo. Though some of these series aren’t nearly as popular as they once were,Scooby-Doohas managed to stand the test of time, with current day fans clamoring for even more franchise characters to appear onMultiVersus' roster.

MultiVersus, a free-to-play fighting game, is currently taking the world by storm. With Warner Bros. Interactive publishing the game,MultiVersusis home to some of pop-culture’s most iconic characters, fromDC staples like Batman and Wonder Womanto animated heroes like Jake and Finn fromAdventure Time. Right now, the onlyScooby-Doocharacters on the roster are Shaggy and Velma. However,MultiVersusbeing a live-service game means there’s always the potential to add new characters to the roster, and some classicScooby-Doovillains should make the cut.

Scooby-Doo Villains That Would Be Great MultiVersus Additions

Debuting all the way back in 1969, theScooby-Doofranchise has plenty of material to draw from when it comes toMultiVersusroster additions. Over the last 50 years, there have been a slew of differentScooby-Dooreboots and spin-offs, ranging from the original cartoon to the iconic live-action outings to some straight-to-DVD movies. And with every newScooby-Doomovie or TV show comes a whole host of villains, each one more bizarre and outlandish than the last.

One of the most iconicScooby-Doovillains, and a sure-fire hit forMultiVersus, is The Creeper. Popping up in the intro to every episode of theoriginalScooby-Doo: Where Are You?cartoon, The Creeper’s green skin, yellow eyes, and Beatles haircut is seared into the memory of just about anyone who’s ever watched the show. Though it turns out to just be an old bank owner, The Creeper was believed to be able to walk through walls and have superhuman strength, which could make for some interestingMultiVersusabilities.

AnotherclassicScooby-Doovillainwhose appearance is instantly recognizable, Spooky Space Kook would make another fine addition toMultiVerus' roster. Dressed as an astronaut with a skull face and a glowing red helmet, the Spooky Space Kook didn’t really have any powers, but was able to scare off intruders with its high-pitched laugh. It’s not the easiest ability to replicate in a fighting game, but it could lead to some pretty unique gameplay mechanics.

Moving into the more modern era ofScooby-Doo, the Phantom Virus fromScooby-Doo and the Cyber Chasewould be one of the easier characters to transition toMultiVersus. An AI being made of pure electrical energy, the Phantom Virus could absorb and manipulate any form of digital data or power, allowing it to shift its environment and fire out bolts of energy. With the Phantom Virus being a part of a video game program in theCyber Chasemovie, there’s room forMultiVersusto get meta with its comedy, just as it has with some of its other characters.

The finalScooby-Doovillain that should make the roster in the future is the live-action version of Scrappy-Doo, Scoobert’s revenge-seeking nephew. Scrappy-Doo’s fighting style could revolve around its three forms, one beng its regular, tiny dog form where it could bite at the ankles of other fighters, one where it’s a hulking, buff monster like at the end of the movie, and one where it’s wearing a Rowan Atkinson skin suit. It’d be wild to see, but Scrappy-Doo would actually fitMultiVersus' more wacky tone quite well.

MultiVersusis available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
