Chris Hemsworth is ready to star in his fourthThorfilm with the upcomingThor: Love and Thunderready to hit theatres in 2022. However, Hemsworth remains uncertain about what the future holds for the God of Thunder after his next solo film.
WhileThoris coming back to the silver screen, many of the original Avengers characters like Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man andChris Evans' Captain Americahave already made their exit. Right now, it’s still unclear, especially to Hemsworth, how much of Thor will be integrated into future Marvel films.

Speaking with Australia’s The Today Show, when asked if he’s ready to renew his contract likeTom Holland reportedly did for his Spider-Man character, Hemsworth responded with, “How many Spider-Mans has he done? He’s a little behind me. I think he’s done three, I’ve done six or seven Thors, so maybe. As long as they’ll have me, I’ll turn up, but I feel like they might be waning that kind of enthusiasm for me to keep going.” The hosts quickly showed their support for Hemsworth’s involvement in the ongoing cinematic universe, dismissing any claims that Hemsworth’s roughly 10 year tenure as the God of Thunder may be coming to an end. “That’s my Australian support team, though. Internationally, they might be going, ‘Get rid of him, get someone else,'” Hemsworth jokingly responded. “I’ll call Kevin Feige and everyone at Disney and you guys can … you guys should be my agent, I’ll cut you 10%.”
It’s understandable why Hemsworth is starting to dwell on his exit from the MCU and pursue other projects in his career, especially considering that he’s played Thor for several years. Hemsworth’s Thor been one of the core members of the Avengers for quite awhile and even though Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster is taking up the mantle of the hero, it doesn’t appear that he’s finished just quite yet. Other than leading hisThorsequel, Hemsworth is rumored to play a role inGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Thor’s appearance inLove and Thunderwill be the character’s fourth solo movie in the MCU, officially making him the first Avenger to accomplish that. While Hemsworth’s portrayal of the titular hero received praise from critics and fans, the Australian actor became exhausted and underwhelmed playing the role prior toTaika Waititi hopping on board to direct2017’sThor: Ragnarok, which would turn out to be a much-needed turn for the character that established him as one of the MCU’s funniest and most likable heroes. Following the success of Waititi’s first go at aThorfilm, the upcoming phase 4 film looks to carry over the same exciting energy from its processor and become a worthy addition in this ongoing universe.
Other then the astrophysicist and ex-lover of Thor becoming the Mighty Thor,Love and Thunderwill explore more of Valkyrie, as Thor appointed her as the new king of Asgard at end ofAvengers: Endgame, in addition to delving deeper into Korg’s culture and introducing the Space Sharks alien race.Christian Bale will serve as film’s main antagonist, Gorr the God Butcher, a tormented being who’s hatred towards gods has led him to face Thor.
Thor: Love and Thunderis set to release in theatres on July 03, 2025.
