Day one Xbox Game Pass gameChained Echoeshas earned rave reviews from critics, but there is one part of the game that has been confusing players due to a design flaw.Chained Echoeslaunched earlier this month to widespread critical acclaim, quickly becoming one of the year’s top-rated games. The RPG has been praised for its mature story, quality-of-life features, and engaging battle mechanics.

Like many other RPGs of its ilk,Chained Echoesfeatures a diverse roster of characters that players can have in their party. One of thestandout members of this is Sienna, a red-haired thief with a no-nonsense attitude who has quickly become a fan favorite. While players are usually controlling multiple party members at once, there are times when they control Sienna on her own, including a quest fairly early in the game called Crossing Mountains.

During this quest, Sienna has to sneak her way through a mining town called Rockbottom. They will find themselves delivering lunch to an angry worker, and then finding an elevator but no key to activate it. Further exploration will lead players to a building that they seemingly can’t enter, yet there doesn’t seem to be any other direction to go. Players can hit the interact button multiple times against the door and Sienna will simply not go through, which may make someChained Echoesplayersthink that they need to go elsewhere to continue the quest.

On the contrary, this door is just finicky. If players keep pushing against it and hitting interact, or re-positioning Sienna so she’s approaching the door from a different angle, it should eventually open. Afterwards, players will be able to continue the Crossing Mountains quest. As usual, the quest culminates in achallenging boss fight, soChained Echoesplayers still have some obstacles to overcome before Sienna is reunited with the rest of the group.

While this is an annoying flaw, it’s still a fairly minor issue in a game that has otherwise been praised for its impressive level of polish. It releasing so late in the year has seenChained Echoessnubbed for many awards that it may have otherwise qualified for, which is disappointing for sure, but hopefully it gets more recognition in 2023.Chained Echoesis a day one Xbox Game Pass gameand is available to play through the service right now, but interested RPG fans can check it out on other platforms as well.
