Call of Duty: Warzonehas not been afraid to chase more out there and ambitious crossover events and easter eggs. Currently, players can come across Rambo, John McClane, and Jigsaw, alongside a number of characters from throughout the series in a wide variety of different skins, ranging from the more grounded to the absurd. This has largely been a strength forCall of Duty: Warzone, especially as it has been used to create some very unique and memorable limited-time events in the past.
Most recently it was revealed that this Halloween would bring the iconicGhostface fromScreamtoCall of Duty: Warzone. Few other details have been released about the crossover beyond a leak that the rabbit fromDonnie Darkowill also be available, but the game should definitely make the crossover bigger than just a couple of operators. There are numerous approaches that the developers could take to do this, but the game has already set a great example in some of its previous crossovers.

Call of Duty: Warzone’s History With Crossovers
LastHalloween,Call of Duty: Warzoneadded Jigsaw from theSawfranchise and Leatherface fromTexas Chainsaw Massacreto the game through bundles that players could purchase with the in-game store. Each character’s addition was also accompanied by easter eggs that players could hunt down on the map. In one subway players could find graffiti referencing theSawfranchise, as well as ghostly apparitions of Jigsaw and trains whizzing by on the nearby tracks. In the case of Leatherface, players were able to track down the iconic house from the first movie, complete with blood splatters, atmospheric chainsaw sounds, and a ghost of Leatherface himself.
After the release ofCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War,Warzoneadded operator skins for John Rambo and John McClane, which were also accompanied by their own easter eggs. For Rambo’s inclusion, Fallen Soldier Dogtags were added and could be collected during each match to complete a challenge. ForDie Hard’s inclusion,Warzoneadded the setting of the first movie, Nakatomi Plaza, to the game, complete with a vault that could be opened during matches. Completing the easter egg gives players bonus loot from inside the vault, and is still one of the most memorableeaster eggs inCall of Duty: Warzone.

Call of Duty: Warzone’s Halloween Event
Call of Duty: Warzoneis one of manybattle royales to have a Halloween limited-time eventcoming up, and it is the perfect opportunity for the game to add some unique easter eggs alongside its incoming Ghostface skin. The event kicks off on October 19, and will likely see some themed re-designs across Verdansk to make the map feel more like Halloween. The developers have yet to detail exactly what will all be included, but judging by previous events, there will be themed challenges for players to complete, as well as themed cosmetics to unlock like gun camos, calling cards, and emblems.

There has also been an exclusive game mode leaked for the event that is reportedly known as Scream Deathmatch. The leak claims that it will see two players playing the role of the killer during the match. The two players are only able to use a knife and have their vision limited to resemble looking through the eyeholes of Ghostface’s mask. They are then tasked with hunting down all of the other players in the match within a time limit to win.
The other players simply have to survive for the duration of the match, or the final survivor can win by killing both of the killers in some way. To make things harder for the survivors, they also periodically scream to help the killers locate them if they are hiding. If the game mode is real it is a pretty cool addition to the event and should be ratherexciting forCall of Duty: Warzoneplayersas well.
What Call of Duty: Warzone’s Scream Easter Eggs Could Look Like
However, other easter eggs should also be put into the game for players who don’t want to play the leaked limited-time mode. This would not only help the event feel more inclusive for all players but would also add something to search for and interact with in regular matches while the event is running.
One option that seems very likely to be included is for a location inspired by somewhere in the movies, such as Stu’s house, to be added to Verdansk. The location could include various other references to the movie franchise, such as Ghostface’s iconic knife, somebody stuck in the pet door, or even a script forScream 3’s in-universe equivalentStab 3. The easter egg locations from previous crossovers have been great additions, and really going all out for Ghostface will helpCall of Duty: Warzonestand out from other battle royale gamesthis Halloween.
Another easter egg that could be added with Ghostface is unique challenges themed around theScreamfranchise. These could end up being similar to the ones introduced with Rambo and could include ideas like finding evidence to deduce who the killer is from a number of options or hunting down the killer during matches to prevent them from reaching their next target.
Other smaller easter eggs could include unique emotes that mimic iconic scenes from the movies, a bloody knife skin that makes it resemble Ghostface’s, or even telephones that players could find around the map to listen to some of the iconic phone calls from the movies. It would be particularly great if the game’s easter eggs somehow captured the comedy and parody elements that madeScreamsuch an influential horror movie.
It will be very interesting to see what is all included withCall of Duty: Warzone’s upcoming Halloween event when it kicks off. Hopefully, it will be an event to remember that takes full advantage of its great premise and can serve as a great beforeCall of Duty: Vanguard’s integration next month. There has been a lot going on in the game for fans to get excited about and check out, like some ofCall of Duty: Vanguard’s items being added toWarzoneearly, and it is good to see the team experimenting with new ideas as time goes on.
Call of Duty: Warzoneis available now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
