Despite being nerfed in a recent update, someCall of Duty: Warzonefans still despise the Heartbeat Sensor. Fortunately, a newCall of Duty: Warzonemode makes the gadget unavailable, and players are enjoying the game more because of that.
Heartbeat Sensorshave always been a major topic of debate forCall of Duty: Warzonefans. For starters, bugs have made it so that the heartbeat sensor seemingly ignores the Ghost perk. Even when it is working as intended, though, it essentially makes Ghost a must-have, limiting player choice and lessening loadout variety. Essentially a pocket UAV, the powerful piece of equipment has proven to be a nightmare for some players, as it feels as if enemies using the device know where they are at all times.

A recent update saw the Heartbeat Sensor getting a massive nerf, with its radar pings happening at six second intervals instead of three. Despite the tool theoretically being 50% less effective, it is still incredibly strong - so much so that players do not want to see it in the game at all. Fortunately, a new playlist that was added as part ofCall of Duty: WarzoneSeason 1does just that. Dubbed Vanguard Royale, the mode has been praised by Redditors like not-a_synth because of its tighter focus.
Essentially, Vanguard Royale plays like a normal battle royale match, with the key difference being that it only features gadgets andweapons fromCall of Duty: Vanguard. This means that the Heartbeat Sensor is not available at all, ensuring that one of the most frustrating tools from the normal version ofCall of Duty: Warzoneis not available. According to not-a_synth, the game simply “feels better” without a Heartbeat Sensor, adding that Ghost is not a must-have perk. In the comments, tbdidkyet praised the removal as well, as it allows them to justify using Stim shots and Smoke grenades.
It is worth noting that Vanguard Royale has received praise fromCall of Duty: Warzoneplayersfor another reason, too. In the comments, Redditor Supertrash17 points out that they can start on a “somewhat even playing field” since everyone will be learning the new meta and leveling up theCall of Duty: Vanguardguns. While some players will surely still have maxed out weapons, asCall of Duty: Vanguardhas been out for a month, they should be a lot less common than they would be if guns fromModern WarfareandBlack Ops Cold Warwere included.
Hopefully, developerRaven Softwaresees how much praise the mode is getting and considers keeping the Vanguard Royale playlist around permanently. Based on the reaction thus far, it is a big hit with fans - especially those that are tired of heartbeat sensors.
