Call of Duty: Modern WarfareSeason 2 is now in full swing, and it has already added a number of new maps and modes to Infinity Ward’s highly-popular first-person shooter.CoD: MWSeason 2has also introduced a brand new feature called Regiments, which allows players to form in-game clans together, but unfortunately this social feature has brought a nasty bug along with it.
Specifically, some players have discovered that they can useCall of Duty: Modern Warfare’s Regiments to change the color of their nameplates in-game. While this does not always create issues, fans that change their nameplates to blue can cause serious confusion, as opposing players are likely to perceive them as friendly even though they are not. Similarly, fans may think that one of their teammates is actually a hostile if they have chosen to change their nameplate to red.

The problems this can create are relatively straightforward, and fans have taken to the officialCall of Duty: Modern Warfaresubreddit to ask for Infinity Ward’s intervention. It is in this subreddit thatInfinity Wardofficially confirmed that players are in fact not supposed to have the ability to colorize their nameplates, and the developer further emphasized thatwhat is currently occurring is simply a bug and not an intended feature.
With respect to when this bug will be fixed, the developer indicates that it should be “cleaned up soon.” Indeed, Infinity Ward had already begun “doing a pass” to fix any Regiments setup to colorize their members’Call of Duty: Modern Warfarenameplateslate in the day yesterday, and further steps were also being taken to prevent any new problematic Regiments from being created moving forward.
Certainly, Infinity Ward’s prompt actions on this matter will be appreciated by many in the playerbase, as this bug has been causing serious headaches for fans since the start of Season 2. Hopefully, the developer will have everything ironed out in the next day or so, and players can start enjoyingCall of Duty: Modern Warfare’s Rust, and the season’s other new offerings, without having to worry about who is on their team and who is not.
