Summary
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3Zombies allows players to drive several vehicles through Urzikstan, but helicopters are supposed to be off limits, making one player’s piloting of the exfil helicopter truly shocking. Though the player has no idea why or how the bug occurred, it is so memorable that otherCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3Zombies players are trying to replicate it.
While leavingUrzikstanin an exfil helicopter is the only way for players to successfully extract all the loot they have earned, doing so has been surprisingly difficult in the first several weeks of MWZ’s life. Various bugs tied to exfils have been encountered, such as gamers trolling others by crushing exfil helicopters with Juggernaut packages and players getting thrown out of the helicopter instead of the match completing like it is supposed to. Fortunately, this latest exfil bug has brought more smiles than frustration.

Highlighted in a lengthy clip from Reddit user Similar_Square_3043, the bug in question does not disappoint. At the start of the player’s footage, it is clear that something is off, as the exfil helicopter goes from its normal flat landing position to being turned on its side, seemingly from the cannon used byCoDZombies’ Mangler mini-boss. Though the helicopter eventually returns to an upright position, and Fang provides her usual commentary as the player gets aboard, the Redditor is soon given the option to pilot the helicopter by holding the square button down.
From there, they are able to freely pilot the helicopter, and with control of the vehicle they move to aMystery Boxlocation. However, as they begin to descend above the box spot, they are dropped out of the helicopter and are downed as soon as they hit the ground. When they look up, there is no helicopter to be seen, with the vehicle likely having despawned since it should have fully left the map after the amount of time the player was piloting it. Though there time as a pilot was brief, the player clearly had fun with the ability to control the exfil helicopter.
Whether futureCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3seasonswill allow players to pilot helicopters is unclear, though the tech clearly exists for this mechanic to be properly integrated in the game. However, it could quickly prove to be overpowered, as players could fly between Tier 3 contracts without having to deal with any Zombies along the way. For balancing purposes, perhaps enemies like Manglers could shoot down the helicopters. Regardless, there is a good chance that helicopter piloting remains nothing more than a glitch.
With Treyarch planning to increase theZombie counts during exfilsonce again in an upcoming update, perhaps it will notice and patch this exfil-related bug. Still, given the positive response to it, maybe it would be worth leaving alone.
