Infinity Ward reveals the latestCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2playlist update brings back a fan-favorite mode with a slight change.Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’splaylist is updated every Wednesday, and the latest update comes just one week before the launch of Season 3.BeforeSeason 3 ofModern Warfare 2arrives on April 12, players have one last playlist update for Season 2 Reloaded. On April 4, Infinity Ward opened fan voting for what mode should be added into rotation for the April 5 playlist update inModern Warfare 2. Nominees for the fan vote included 10v10 Team Deathmatch, Dome 24/7, 3rd Person Shoot House, and Shipment Extended. Fan voting officially concluded today with one mode, in particular, being the clear favorite.RELATED:Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Reaches Surprising Twitch MilestoneInfinity Ward’s official Twitter account revealed Shipment Extended is now in the activeModern Warfare 2playlist, bringing a modest change to thefan-favorite Shipment 24/7 mode. Shipment Extended is essentially the same mode as Shipment 24/7 except the score limit is doubled in each match. For example, a team would need 300 kills to win in Team Deathmatch instead of the standard score limit of 150 kills. As a result, Shipment Extended matches will be longer than matches in Shipment 24/7, allowing players to rack up more kills and gain more EXP.

Shoot House 24/7, Himmelmatt 24/7, Close Quarters, 3rd Person Moshpit, and various party modes are also available in theModern Warfare 2playlist this week. Shipment 24/7 and Hardcore Shipment 24/7 are no longer in the playlist due to the recent addition of Shipment Extended. Additionally,10v10 Moshpit has been removedonce again from the playlist, and players are demanding that it return as a permanent mode.

The lack of a permanent 10v10 mode intheModern Warfare 2playlistis a continued source of frustration for some players, but this week’s inclusion of Shipment Extended is welcomed within the community. Shipment Extended allows players to enjoy the popular map in longer matches when compared to Shipment 24/7, and the community seemingly never loses interest in the mode nearly six months after the game’s release.

However, the possibility of Shipment Extended being removed from theModern Warfare 2playlist in a future update remains. Infinity Ward may choose to rotate Shipment Extended out of the playlist in favor of a new mode or another 24/7 variant. Fans should continue voicing their opinions about the playlist when Season 3 arrives on April 12.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
