Like any other game in the series, mastering the movement system ofCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Waris crucial to finding success. However, it seems like the game’s movement system is now different, as several professional players point out some unmentionedCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warchanges.

This would hardly be the first secret update made toCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, as Treyarch has made some big unannounced changes in the past. This December,Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s melee systemwas altered heavily, and a knife animation was added despite never being brought up in the patch notes. Another major, silent change was a noticeable nerf to XP earning rates, with this update still going unaddressed by Treyarch several weeks later.

While players have used tricks tospeed up movement inCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, it seems like many of those moves will no longer work. According to pro player Decemate on Twitter, “They changed the whole movement system” of the game. While the streamer did not elaborate on what exactly changed, the comments section of the post is filled with players explaining what was altered — and it seems like bunny hoppers may want to change up their playstyles.

Call of Duty Leaguecompetitor Austin Liddicoat, also known as SlasheR, asked what exactly changed, and fellow pro iLLeY said that “every time you jump you get stuck in mud.” Another Tweet from retired pro player Mochila confirmed thatCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s sliding has also been changed, making it so players need to have momentum from sprinting before the slide can get distance. While it is unclear why these changes were made, the decision likely comes due to the overuse of sliding and jumping by top tier players.

The change is shown off on video in a clip from Maux’s Twitch stream, with theCall of Dutyfan highlighting the difference for his viewers. While playing onthe remastered Express map, Maux attempts to bunny hop after landing, but is unable to jump a second time for a few seconds. Moving sluggishly and seemingly stuck in place, iLLeY’s description of “being stuck in mud” is an apt one, as that is exactly what the jump recovery process looks like.

While professionalCall of Dutyplayers will likely be bothered by this change to the game’s movement, more casualCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warusers may see it as a positive. Regardless, itseems likeBlack Ops Cold War’s League Playand public matches could see a lot less jumping and sliding going forward.
