Update: Activision has officiallyannounced theCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold WarOutbreak Zombies mode.
Original story follows.
Last week, reliable leakers suggested thatCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warwould be adding anopen world Zombies experience called Outbreak. While Activision still has yet to officially announce the new game mode, it was accidentally leaked on theCall of Dutywebsite, which means that a Zombies Outbreak mode reveal is now just a matter ofwheninstead ofif.
TheCall of Dutywebsite has been updated to remove the reference to the Outbreak game mode, but screenshots of it have been preserved by various Twitter accounts and leakers. The screenshot doesn’t reveal a lot of information about theCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold WarZombies Outbreak mode, beyond that it is a “new, large-scale Zombies experience.” No gameplay details or trailers were leaked, so it seems as though fans will have to standby for more information on that front.

It’s possible that theCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold WarOutbreak mode will come when Season 2 launches on Thursday, February 25. Previously, Treyarch indicated that anew Zombies map will be added as part ofBlack Ops Cold WarSeason 2, but maybe it was actually referencing Outbreak. Alternatively, maybe Outbreak will be added at some point during Season 2 instead - fans will just have to standby for more information.
When Treyarch launchedCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold WarSeason 1, it did so without any new Zombies map. Instead it saved theFirebase Z Zombies mapfor theCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warmid-season update. It’s possible that this will be the pattern for newCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warcontent throughout 2021, so fans may be able to expect new Zombies content with the mid-season updates throughout the year, though that remains to be seen.
While Treyarch has already detailed whatCall of Dutyfans can expect fromBlack Ops Cold Warplaylists and game modesthis week, it’s possible that Outbreak could be announced early next week. WithCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, information on the next update has dropped on Tuesdays each week, with the update itself going live on Thursdays. If Outbreak is due for release next week with the Season 2 update, then fans may be able to look forward to the official announcement on Tuesday, though they should keep their expectations in check.
