The new console generation’s launch seems to have been a major success for the most part. This wasthe biggest new console launch for Microsoft, with a similarly huge launch for Sony.
That said, there are stumbling points on some fronts. While next-gen processing and graphical power are hailed as fantastic, problems have arisen with both companies' consoles. In several cases, these problems are tied to next-gen games, likeCall of Duty Black Ops: Cold War. When it comes to the PS5,Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold Warhas an issue where the controller disconnects unexpectedly during regular gameplay.

The most solid report of the bug comes during a level inCold Wartitled Fractured Jaw. During the level, the PS5’s controller becomes disconnected. One minute the player is playing as normal, the next, no inputs are received. This bug has been a problem before,surfacing in the Beta for PS4 players. Treyarch addressed the bug when it gained notoriety, but it persisted for some time. Some reported that it occurred even with a mouse and keyboard setup, meaning it manifested on PC as well. Now it has crossed another console boundary and become a problem for the PS5.
While the report of Fractured Jaw causing the disconnect comes directly from Charlie Intel, there have been other instances reported too. Some players report that their controllers have disconnected duringZombies mode. Both of these are serious, but more serious still are reports of disconnects during multiplayer. A disconnect like this during a campaign level is negligible unless it’s consistent, requiring a reload at most. However, during co-op or multiplayer, something like this can break the game.
As of this article, there has been no official response from Raven Software or Treyarch regarding the bug’s resurfacing. However, a few players have had luck with home-grown solutions. Changing the controller connection from Bluetooth to USB through direct connection and the settings provides a temporary fix. Sadly, this is not the only PS5 issue associated withCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warat the moment. It is also one of several games causing adownload glitch in the PS5.
Problems caused byCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warare not limited to the PS5 either. Again, it is one of several gamescausing a shutdown glitch on the Xbox Series X. Of course, the game just released for next-gen consoles, so presumably these bugs will be addressed soon.
