Summary

Buffy The Vampire Slayeris a fantastic television series that managed to inspire an entire generation of teen movies and shows with the iconic nature of the characters and stories it contained. Over seven series, a spin-off series, and plenty of tie-in comics, a lot has happened in the history of Buffy and the universe it is set in.

One of the notable parts ofBuffyThe Vampire Slayerlore is the history of the slayers. While Buffy was the primary slayer known to fans, over the course of the show, many others appeared, including past slayers, and new ones arriving due to the one-slayer rule being broken. What’s more, is that plenty of them have perished during the show or since it came to an end.

9Sineya

Unknown Cause Of Death

The very first slayer ever, Sineya, is just one of a long history of slayers that must have died at some point in order for the next one to follow them. However, the cause of Sineya’s death remains unknown.

Despite being alive thousands of years before Buffy, Sineya has multiple appearances in theBuffyshow. She first appears in the dreams of the main cast at the end of season four, attempting to kill them because she believes they affronted the legacy of the slayer. Despite leading a mysterious, nearly mythical life, Sineya’s death remains a mystery toBuffyfans, but she was definitely one ofthe strongest slayers ever to live.

8Claudine

Killed By An Unknown Vampire

Making her main appearance in Buffy’s continuity in theTales of the Slayersgraphic novel, Claudine lived in Paris during the French Revolution. She has made several appearances in otherBuffymedia since then, becoming a better-known name than most historical slayers.

Claudine was one of the few slayers to have a romantic relationship with their Watcher, but this ended when the said Watcher tricked her into killing an aristocrat who was not, in fact, a vampire. Claudine’s death was like that of many slayers, during a random fight against an unknown vampire. Fans have seen Buffy during her show appear fatigued with the fight. It only makes sense that every slayer makes a mistake eventually and loses.

7Yuki Makimura

Killed By Buffy

In a strange story, Yuki Makimura is one of the few slayers in the main continuity of the franchise to become a vampire herself. Appearing first in theTales of the Slayersgraphic novel and later in theBuffy The Vampire Slayerseason 8 comics, Yuki worked in 18th Century Japan for years before being captured andtransformed by powerful villain The Master.

Yuki after becoming a vampire, was loyal to The Master, leading to her appearing in Sunnydale and attacking Buffy for killing The Master. After attempting to resurrect her former leader and sire, she is defeated and finally laid to rest by Buffy herself. This made a rare occasion when a slayer was killed by another slayer.

Killed By Spike

One of the few vampires or creatures of any type to ever kill multiple slayers,Spike is a huge part of Buffy’s continuityand his previous victories against former slayers were explored during Buffy’s show when she wanted to learn more about how her compatriots had been defeated throughout history.

Xin Rong was the first of the two slayers that Spike defeated. She was active around the end of the 19th century andran into Spike and The Whirlwindduring the Boxer Rebellion in 1900. She seemed to be a gifted fighter, but this did not stop Spike from managing to defeat her after a prolonged battle.

Nikki Wood Buffy The Vampire Slayer

4Nikki Wood

The other slayer that Spike managed to defeat was a much more recent member of the slayer lineage. Fighting in New York City, Nikki Wood was the slayer for seven years, a seriously impressive length of time that most slayers don’t achieve. She even had a son by the time she died, Robin Wood, who grew up to help fight vampires himself alongside Buffy.

While Nikki didn’t survive her final clash with Spike, there are many other battles against powerful creatures that she did defeat which have since been explored over the course of tie-in comics and graphic novels.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer

3Buffy Summers

Multiple Deaths

Buffy Summers herself, the titular protagonist ofBuffy The Vampire Slayerand the entire franchise, has also died on multiple occasions. She first perished shortly after becoming the Slayer when she went up against The Master, though she would quickly be brought back and managed to defeat that legendary creature in one ofthe creepiest episodes in the series.

But Buffy died again, at the end of season five, when she sacrificed herself so that Dawn could live, saving the world in the process. Buffy was once again brought back, this time ripped from heaven by her friends who were desperate for her to return. The deaths of Buffy were the first times that the rule of one slayer per generation was broken, as slayers were called upon her death.

Kendra Young In Buffy The Vampire Slayer

2Kendra Young

Killed By Drusilla

The first time that Buffy died, a new slayer was called, despite Buffy coming back to life shortly afterward. Kendra Young appeared in season 2 ofBuffy, as a much more rigid character who listened to her Watcher unquestioningly and didn’t know a lot about fun.

While she initially showed Buffy up, the two became friends. Unfortunately, the conclusion of the season sawa rampant Drusilla kill Kendraafter luring Buffy away. A powerful vampire who survived many centuries, Drusilla was a worthy opponent for any slayer and proved too strong for the still inexperienced Kendra.

Amanda In Buffy The Vampire Slayer

1Amanda

Killed By A Turok-Han

The final slayer killed in theBuffyshow; Amanda was just one of the many potential slayers who was situated in Sunnydale during the seventh season. While other potential candidates were brought to the town to be under the protection of the Scooby Gang, Amanda already lived there and was uncovered as a potential slayerwhen Dawn thought that she might be one.

However, Amanda wasn’t as lucky as many of the other potential slayers when they were all made into full slayers for the final battle against The First. The army of super vampires known as the Turok-Han battled under the high school with many of the slayers, and Amanda was one of the few known characters who didn’t make it out alive.
