It seemsBlood Bowl 3is in trouble, with fans voicing their disappointment in droves and causing the devs to issue an apology on Steam for all that’s gone wrong before and since the game’s release.Blood Bowl 3’s release was highly anticipated, but excitement turned into rage as one issue appeared after another.Trouble started brewing before release when Cyanide Studio announced thatBlood Bowl 3will contain a battle passwhich they named Blood Pass. The 50-tier battle pass itself was not the source of the upset, but rather the fact there would be a free and paid tier within it. Fans have heavily criticized the developer for bringing monetization intoBlood Bowl 3and wished for its removal. However, the request clearly fell on dead ears, as the battle pass system remained. To make matters worse, there were already server connectivity issues during the game’s early access period, causing further frustration withBlood Bowl 3. But as it turns out, the state of the game after release made fans' frustration even worse.RELATED:Nacon Connect Event Announced for Next Month With RoboCop and GollumThe community update on Steam came only a day after the release as negative reviews started pouring in. At the time of writing,Blood Bowl 3has 945 reviews, and out of those 72% are negative, pushing the game into the “Mostly Negative” category.Cyanide Studio has listed all the issuesfans have found with the game and addressed each in separate points. Apparently, when it comes to server connectivity, it has been improved upon and should cause fewer issues. However, when it came to the matter of the Blood Pass, the devs expressed their support for the system. “We know that we will probably not be able to convince all of you, but we truly believe that our system is fair, rewarding and optional and that’s understandable.” According to Cyanide Studio, it will not cause an unfair advantage.
Perhaps an even bigger issue was the fact that due to a Steam error, some players who bought the standard version ofBlood Bowl 3received the Brutal Edition, which has a list of extra items. to fix the issue, Cyanide Studio said it’ll not remove the extra 1,000 Warpstones those fans received, but they will take away the extra customization options. On the flip side, players who purchased the Brutal Edition will get an additional 1,000 Warpstones to maintain their advantage and Early Unlock players will be rewarded 250 Warpstones on top of that. However, some fans who bought the standard edition reported their Warpstones were taken away anyway.
This series of events has led to a veryrough start forBlood Bowl 3, with many fans demanding a refund. It remains to be seen whether Cyanide Studio can make a comeback from that.
Blood Bowl 3has been released for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. The Switch version will be released at a later date.
