It was announced on the official Shо̄nen Jump Twitter (X) account on Thursday that theBLEACH: No Breaths From Hellspecial one-shot would be released in colour this September. The one-shot is set after theThousand-Year Blood Wararc, and reintroduces a concept that has only ever been referenced in the early stages of theBLEACHseries, as well as in the last feature length animatedBLEACHfilm, The Hell Verse.
BLEACH: No Breaths From Hellwas originally released in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the series' debut, with the upcoming colourized version expected to arrive in digital stores on September 4.

TheNo Breaths From Hellone-shot is a 73-page chapter released in August 2021, 20 years after the series' debut. It was made available digitally through VIZ’s Shо̄nen Jump online magazine and app; as well as Shueisha’s Manga Plus online platform.BLEACH: No Breaths From Hellis set just over ten years after theThousand-Year Blood Wararc, known in-universe as the “Protection of the Soul King Great War”, in which Ichigo is invited to a special ceremony in Soul Society tolay to rest the souls of the high-ranked Shinigamiwho lost their lives during the war.
The Konsо̄ is an old aspect of theBLEACHstoryline, and the primary means for a Shinigami to enable a soul’s safe “passing over”, and in No Breaths From Hell, it is revealed that incredibly powerful souls upset the delicate balance of the worlds when they die, so a special Konsо̄ is performed to avoid catastrophe; however, the truth is far darker, and far more complicated than that.
Ichigo’s son Kazui, and Rukia’s daughter Ichikafeature in this one-shot, which ends on a cliffhanger that supposedly teases the possibility of an extended exploration into theBLEACHconception of Hell.
The originalBLEACHmanga by Tite Kubo was serialized in Shueisha’s Shonen Jump magazine from August 2001 to August 2016, running for 74 volumes. A spin-off series titledBurn The Witchwas announced as part of the 20th-anniversary celebrations of theBLEACHfranchise; which included the announcement of the return of the anime in the form ofBLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War,which is set for a 52-episode run spread out evenly over four cours.
The currently-airing second cours subtitled “The Separation” is set to end on September 30. The digitally colouredBLEACH: No Breaths From Hellone-shot hits digital stores on September 4.
