Summary

Staying a safe distance away from his enemies and melting their health bars with aLongshot sniper rifleis what Silo does best, and thanks to his abilities, it’s incredibly difficult for enemies to reach him when he’s hanging back behind a team. Silo comes equipped with a set of bombs, clones, and traps which are all designed to draw away enemy fire while he lines up his shots, making the true marksman archetype ofWayfinder.

This isn’t to say that Silo is easy to play though since his abilities will take a good amount of practice to use effectively, and some are a lot less useful than others when facing multiple enemies in a dangerous encounter. Silo isone of those Wayfinderswho truly shines when multiple of his abilities are used in tangent, but it’s still useful to know which are going to be the most viable and essential to use when playing as thissharp-tongued charismatic sniper.

5Proto-Clone

Despite being his least-useful ability due to the short amount of time that it remains active, Proto-Clone does still have a few uses both when playingsolo and as a team. For one, it provides Silo with a great way to quickly escape from danger by dashing away before then dropping a clone to distract his foes, leaving them and their weak spots wide open. In a team, it can also be an absolute lifesaver when someone is struggling for HP and needs a little extra protection to get back to their feet.

The pull radius of the ability is unfortunately fairly limited, but the distance Silo dashes away upon throwing the clone down does make up for this. It’s just that because of how essential his other abilities are, they largely overshadow Proto-Clone in terms of effectiveness.

4Fire Bomb

When Silo isn’t popping heads off with his trusty sniper rifle, he’s burning enemies to a crisp with hisexplosive fire bombswhich he can throw out in an instant to deal some serious damage to anyone unfortunate enough to get caught in the flames. Once the bomb has made impact with an enemy, it will continue burning for a few seconds, and because the ability animation is so quick, it makes it easy to quickly toss a bomb out before finishing a monster off with a shot or two.

With that being said, the actual AOE of the bomb is fairly small when it’s not thrown over an oil bomb, meaning that it’s all too easy to throw a fire bomb that might be slightly off target. Still, a fire bomb is one of Silo’s primary offensive tools, but for it to be at its most powerful, an oil bomb must be thrown out first.

3Oil Bomb

While the oil bomb becomes devastating when paired up with Silo’s fire bomb ability, it’s still extremely effective on its own due to how it can slow enemies to a crawl in case they get a little too close for comfort. This is particularly useful for weaker enemies who love to group up such as theWinterspawn spidersor the demonic Heralds. Simply drop a splash of oil on the horde, and Silo and his allies will have a much easier time taking them down.

Additionally, enemies also take a little more damage when covered in oil, and considering the fact that Silo’s passive already allows him to deal extra damage to debuffed enemies, it means he can virtually one-shot anyone caught in the way of the bomb. Similar to many of Silo’s other abilities, a larger radius and longer debuff period would have been nice, but that’s not to say that this projectile isn’t still extremely powerful in its own right.

2Arc Nemesis

Silo’s EGG might take a little while to activate, but once it’s out on the field, it makes it near-impossible for any creatures or monsters to even get close to him and his teammates due to the shocking effects of thissmall and helpful electronic companion. The device also stays around for a surprisingly long time, giving Silo the perfect opportunity to run around fallen corpses and pick up any valuable loot or resources, something that’s usually difficult to do for the marksman when he’s attacking enemies at range.

If he has all of his abilities ready, Silo can instantlywipe out hordesby throwing out EGG before then piling on his bombs to make quick work of anyone who dares stand in his way. Alongside just how powerful it is in practice, the Arc Nemesis ability also allows Silo to experiment with other weapons, especially close-combat shotguns or melee weapons where he can easily hack and slash enemies to pieces while they are stunned in place.

1Strategic Advantage

It’s shocking that Strategic Advantage is Silo’s passive ability considering just how immensely powerful it makes his character. Aside from his Proto-Clone, each one of Silo’s abilities will cause some sort of debuff on an enemy, and due to Strategic Advantage always being in play, it means he will deal a staggering extra amount of damage when going on the offensive after throwing out a bomb or his EGG device.

Of course, this is extremely helpful for taking down all enemies in the game, but it’s especially useful for stubborn bosses such as the Bloodspawn or Night’s Maw who won’t be easy to take down without any buffs. The fact that the ability will boost the damage of melee attacks alongside ranged weapons might seem like a small addition, but it actually makes Silo so much more versatile and fun to play since he can easily switch out to a set of daggers oreven a greatswordand still be capable of dishing out tons of damage.
